Hi everyone,

I have been looking for an easy way to make Indy glass for the bodies I make for a while. I do not like the glass I make in the pressure pot which is a pain and I have never been fond of the clarity.

The first thing I came up with is clear plastic spoons. I cut the tip off and it is the right size and looks right in the 51 Indy Winner Body I make. Its the metallic blue no 88.

I have been looking for a smaller spoon but haven't found one yet for the Curtis Roadster bodies I make. I was out Charles and Marley tonight at Wal-Mart and was in the arts and craft section looking for some plastic bags and just generally browsing. I picked up two bags of different size Googly Eyes. They are the eyes that you see on stuffed animals. The smaller size I cut in half, remove the black eye then use an xacto knife to cut off the white cardboard back. They are perfect for my Curtis Indy cars. The larger size works well on the 57 Belond Special Body I make its the yellow No 9, Also from looking at these if you cut the very tip you get a nice piece of glass that would work well on any of MEV's sports cars. and if you lay it flat then trim the glass you get a small wrap around glass.

also picked up the cool Mels Diner and another American Graffiti Garage with a Maverick and some nice accessories i.e. engine lift.

Yes, Roger, thanks for the tip. I've been looking for something to use for windscreens on several cars.

That clear spoon is a great idea, I had never thought of that. I’ve been thinking on what to do for a windshield for my racing Cobra. I have been looking at the clear plastic bubbles that come on some things you can buy or the plastic pop bottles, but the spoon would be easy to cut and fit. Did you just attach it to the finished paint job or did you cut a small slot for it? What glue did you use?

Your pieces keep getting better and better.

I keep lexan from blister packs. Very often I can find just the right curvature for all sorts of windshields.

Nice job Roger, definitely thinking outside of the box on this one. You know you've got the slot car bug when you're always looking for ways to repurpose ordinary items for slot car use.
