Good Afternoon Guys,
We are holding a race at the Farm 2, April 24-26th, 2009. Last year we had 149 entries for a race that came together in a little over a month, this year we are reaching out to the leaders of our hobby. I have contacted most of the team managers to get there support, and create an event that will be the event to be at in 2009. We are expecting well over 250+ people for this event, I have had inquires from nearly every state and countries as far away as England.
The race was created in March 2008, to help a friend of many in the Carolina's Rc community Don Tilley. Don was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in December 2007 and was given 6-9 months to live, his bills quickly piled up and his best friend and fellow racer John "Moose" Wells had the idea for a small race. Well, with the community support thrown behind it that small race took on a life of its own. We had racers come in from 11 states and Canada to support the cause and race, raising over $9,000 for Don and the American Cancer Society. Don has since passed, and we believe he would want this to keep going, to help others in there battle against this horrible disease. We created the Don Tilley memorial fund which will help those fighting and there families pay bills and special requests.
All proceeds from this event will support that fund, and the American Cancer Society. We all know someone wether friend, family or a co worker that has had some form of Cancer. Our main goal is to help those families stricken by it know they are not alone, and if we can get one person to quit smoking or get screened then our goal was met. Please join us in April in 2009, any raffle donations would be greatly appreciated, we also welcome all drivers to attend this spectical at the Farm 2.
