If your at the Birds stop by and check out the new car. Ritchie Mac ovalguy1 01-22-2009, 08:56 AM A few more days till I head out to the Birds ooking forward to it. Got one new car ready working on the other one when I get off. Changes look good on new car. Can't wait to run it. Ritchie Mac Hudson Hornet ! 01-22-2009, 09:14 AM Since some of us can't go to the birds, how about a picture of the new car? ovalguy1 01-22-2009, 10:31 AM I'll post one when I get off. Ritchie MAc Hudson Hornet ! 01-22-2009, 12:33 PM Thanks! ovalguy1 01-23-2009, 07:49 AM Here are the pics I promised. Ritchie Mac KLEIN-31 01-23-2009, 08:44 AM nice car is that chassis the latest version? ovalguy1 01-23-2009, 08:47 AM Yep we are runing these for the first time at the Birds..nice car is that chassis the latest version? KLEIN-31 01-23-2009, 09:02 AM i like the chassis it looks good, just wondering how come there still have the battery slot in the chassis are they gonna keep it that way or has there been any talk about making it solid like alot of the lipo chassis? ovalguy1 01-23-2009, 10:35 AM Alot of people still run 4 cell. There is talk about doing a lipo only version. We are going to see how next week goes. Ritchie Mac Hudson Hornet ! 01-23-2009, 12:14 PM nice looking car! Justnitro 01-23-2009, 12:55 PM Has anyone else had problems with HPS2 shock shafts. I cant get the eclip to go on. It seems as if the groove is machined too small. "Frank Ulbrik" 01-23-2009, 02:05 PM They are difficult to get on sometimes becouse they are so small. Best way i found is to get it started by hand then press it on with a pair of needle nose pliers. they fit fine nice & tight and the piston doesnt float around which is a good thing. LARCGuy 01-23-2009, 03:28 PM Slots are a lipo tray. A lot of lipo's have bumps and they are great for holding in the battery. Great looking car Ritchie Looking forward to seeing it. i like the chassis it looks good, just wondering how come there still have the battery slot in the chassis are they gonna keep it that way or has there been any talk about making it solid like alot of the lipo chassis? Great looking car Ritchie Looking forward to seeing it. i understand how the slots work on a chassis, just wondering what the reason was for having them since a lot of the new chassis coming out are soild where the battery sits Justnitro 01-23-2009, 06:24 PM I have built about a six sets of these shocks and the most recent 2 sets I had trouble with the shafts. I went to my local hobby shop and picked up more and they were different from those in the kits. It seems they are 2 different shafts made of different materials. Maybe it is just me. teamhooked13 01-23-2009, 06:51 PM KLEIN-31 i like the chassis it looks good, just wondering how come there still have the battery slot in the chassis are they gonna keep it that way or has there been any talk about making it solid like alot of the lipo chassis? One shaft hardley had a grove in the end. The e clips shot off into floor. You should have seen me searching for them. Even my wife got into the search, to stop my cursing.LOL Maybe extra e clips in the package would be good. After I got them built they worked great!!! I heard that a new adjusting collar was in the works. Will it be avalibale at the Birds? Monti007 01-23-2009, 07:45 PM i understand how the slots work on a chassis, just wondering what the reason was for having them since a lot of the new chassis coming out are soild where the battery sits It is only because people like me still run cells. Contrary to all the internet heros lipo is not the only class out there. Also the new single cell lipo from SMC has humps like cells too. The slots will also keep the chassis lighter. Richie's car does not have the lipo brace either, they are not done yet but will be at the birds. There is also going to be a new upper pod plate that is going to work much better with brushless motors. I hope this is what you are looking for thank you for taking an interest! Hey I ordered extra when I ordered my shocks cause I knew that would happen. :freak: I ended up breaking my first one, then the second one shot off in a black hole, I finally got the needle nose pliers and made it work. Didn't notice any problems with the shaft. I put the lower one on first and the top one is easier when the piston is one. Bill Monti007 01-25-2009, 12:17 AM Well I just got done with 24hrs of track testing on the new solid chassis in order get ready for the birds. (I started at 8PM last night and finished at 9:30 tonight, I did nap for 3hours) This version is the best one that I have tested to date. I feel that both my 10.5 and 17.5 lipo cars had more "snap" into the corner. I also like the way I could feel changes much better. We will have to see how things go at the Birds and how my other team mates feel about the car. I am off to bed please stop by the BSR table while at the birds if you have any questions. John Card 01-28-2009, 03:17 PM For anyone interested, I have my Silva car posted for sale in the swap and sell oval section. It is a complete car - minus electronics, tires, and body - but I can throw in a used body of you want. It also comes with spare Silva shock parts and spare Silva t-bars. It has a custom lipo battery tray that has room for a GTB speed control, and a top pod plate that clears a Novak brushless heatsink. Stock battery tray and top plate are included. Pictures are in that post, and here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14526883@N08/sets/72157612994787014/ Thanks for looking samgkd 01-29-2009, 09:51 PM I picked up the SC210 lipo battery tray for my L4 but it won't fit with the stock L4 battery bracket. Will the SC202 bracket let the SC210 tray bolt up to the L4 cassis? Sam KLEIN-31 01-30-2009, 08:58 AM I picked up the SC210 lipo battery tray for my L4 but it won't fit with the stock L4 battery bracket. Will the SC202 bracket let the SC210 tray bolt up to the L4 cassis? Sam yes sam, that's the bracket SC202 you need with the silva trays ovalguy1 02-03-2009, 11:43 AM Freshly home from the birds. I think the new car is awsome. I will be getting more track time with it in the next couple of weeks. It was great to meet everyone at or booth. Hope everyone got home safe. Ritchie Mac Racing Inc 02-08-2009, 12:56 PM will the new solid chassis run at the birds be offered for sale and when? ovalguy1 02-09-2009, 07:10 AM Yes the new solid car will be avaliable. It should be ready any day now. I'll see if I can get in touch with Dana today and find out. Ritchie Mac ScottH 02-15-2009, 04:44 PM Kudos on making the larger adjusting nuts for the HPS2 shocks. They really make it easier to adjust. DC661 03-08-2009, 01:14 AM Just wondering if you guys have a release date for the new car? DrtRcrM87 03-10-2009, 08:52 AM RitchieMac,Any news on the new solid chassis?? Thanks. ovalguy1 03-13-2009, 07:14 AM Hey guys sorry I havn't been posting to much lately. After a year of trying I found out my wife was 5 weeks pregnet with our first child when I came home from the Snowbirds. We lost the baby at 9 weeks so I really havn't been feeling like racing at all. It really makes you think about how short life is and it really put my life in prospective. Im not done I'm just took a couple of steps back. I havn't talked to Dana but I will see if I can get up with him later today. Ritchie Mac FLYING5 03-13-2009, 11:10 AM sorry to hear ritchie mac. tats31 03-13-2009, 05:00 PM Hey Ritchie I feel your sorrow we went through the same thing and now we have a wonderful two year old girl So dont giveup Tom DrtRcrM87 03-13-2009, 07:54 PM RitchieMac,Sorry to hear of your loss.prayers to you and the family. No rush with the chassis, family 1st. Allan A 03-18-2009, 04:52 PM I would like to thank Dana for his support of the Carpet Oval Nationals. The race was a blast, I wish you could have been here. Thanks Allan A davz 03-20-2009, 08:10 AM Just picked up a set of these and ran them for the first time. They sure are nice. Easy to build. One issue- Has anyone noticed that after your car sits on the bench for a while, that the shocks will hardly move? Once you move them, then they are ok. It's like theres some vacuum in there and it takes a couple strokes to work it out. My car is very inconsistent from run to run and I think this is why. The associated VCS2 shock is like this too. I know someone has run across this. I'm not imagining it. ovalguy1 03-20-2009, 09:27 AM davz I have been running these shocks since Dana sent me the prototypes to test. I have built these atleast 50 times and have never seen this. How much oil and how much rebound are you getting? I know one issue I had in the begining was my shocks were to short. I built them the same lenth as the VCS. They were bottoming out and made my car very eractic. It sounds like there is to much oil in the sock. I build mine just like my HPI center shock. I fill my shock body up with oil and move the piston up and down slowly, than I sit it in an old tire and let all the air bubbles out. (about 5 mins or so) Place your bladder on top of the shock not in the cap, and screw your cap on and check for rebound. I like mine to rebound about half way back out. If it's to much loosen cap and bleed a little oil out and retry the rebound. Hope this helps. Ritchie Mac davz 03-20-2009, 03:58 PM Maybe I do have too much oil in them. They are the proper length. Minee rebound almost all the way out. I'll try it. Thanks Dave Dski93 03-20-2009, 05:39 PM Just curious if the shocks are now coming with the larger adjustment nut or if you still have to buy them seperate? I just got a new pair and they still had the small nut on them. ovalguy1 03-20-2009, 10:12 PM The shocks that are being sent out now all have the big nut on them. Dski93 email Dane Im sure he will take care of you. Ritchie Mac davz 03-24-2009, 06:44 AM It seems like you have to use lighter oil to get the shocks to feel the same as the VCS. Ritchie have you found this? I used to use the vcs shocks with a 600 grit sanded piston (just to round the edges) at 25w. Doing nothing to the piston in the new shocks, 15w felt about the same. ovalguy1 03-25-2009, 01:29 PM davz It feels like 5wt difference on the oil is about right. We switched to lipo this season so everything changed on the car. I would start with 10wt lighter than the VCS and go from there. Ritchie Mac ovalguy1 07-27-2009, 02:10 PM Keep your eyes out on the Silva camp. Big things coming... vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
