Just wondring what some guys have put in their Slashes for brushless unit, i been thinking a 17.5 to 10.5 motor would be more then plenty. the traxas XVL system is nice but i think the motor is overkill for oval racing on a small track.

Don't use the 17.5. You can't gear it high enough to get any usable power or speed. At our track there are a handfull of guys running 13.5, and I run a 10.5

I would agree with that. I tried a 17.5 in my T4, and it was totally anemic with the gears I could fit in it. Several guys in my club run Velinion stuff (on dirt) and have very few problems with it, but I'm pretty loyal to Novak myself.

17.5 in a Slash is about the same speed as the Titan. Most mod guys are running a 13.5. Much more then that and all you do is spin the tires. 24/72 works pretty good with a 17.5 in a T4 and gives you about the same speed as a good 27t brushed motor.

I am looking at putting a 13.5 in mine. Any ideas on gearing??

24/86 is close to the titans without blowing their paint off

what battery are you using with these gearings? 6 or 7 cell. and has anyone thought or tried 4 cell pack to see the speed. On a small oval that is why i ask?

Thanks

What about a Sidewinder 4600 set up and get a Castle Link to turn it down a little as needed. I think the 4600 is about like a 10.5 sensored. I have a 5700kv and its too much power for small tracks IMO...

PS: Always avoid a Slashless Brush Setup. ;)

As far as I know the traxxas V system is close to a 10.5. It is a 3500. The 4600 should be a little faster. I ran a 5700 on a mid size track, but it kept taking my diff gear out from the torque. For the slash I would say either the traxxas velineon or the 4600 if the rules are open.
