After some spirited discussion on another board, it has been said that a card numbering error now exist with the issuance of Matchbox Batch A for 1-100 models. If you take a closer look to the '70 Pontiac GTO cardback that is labeled as being the 10th card/model of the current 2009 1-100 Issue. Further inspection will reveal a contradiction if you will. Along the side of the card, it is also labeled as being the 9th model of 11 in the HERITAGE CLASSICS. These two numbering systems are off by one. Well to finish off the post, Mr. David Tilley, previous Matchbox Ambassador, has posted these comments:
Hi Gill,
Now this is simply a packaging error. Tery (Terry) is busy formulating his next report, and Mattel will be providing him with the full 1-100 US/1-75 LAAM/1-75ROW list with the full set of numbers. At this time, we will know once and for all whether it is the 9 or 10 that is the incorrect number.
For anyone else who added them up, all the other batch A cards married up with the numbers, if you added everything up from 1 to 100. We could possibly make an educated guess on everything from 12 upwards for the US range. It is just this first 11 segment that is causing the headache.
