The first one is done ,,,minus saddles and pandhard mnt,, This is what I have came up with as a front axle for my sprint car , [It is a older WCM ] I belive this axle will fit most off them made today , Note the steering slider box And also the clamping stlye mounting ,The servo holder is only two inches tall the clamps are held by 6-32 bolts the slider held on by 6-32 bolts.this one I will keep the next one is yours , there will be more pics in my photo album ,,,,Thank you Robert

Your probably right Tanner, maybe it won't like that same caster/camber all the time? It does turn pretty good being adjustable. Hope it turns better now. I'll be sure to let you and Mike know:thumbsup: Hope to see you and everybody in DFW at the ncs race:wave:

Bob-

No bolting "through" the front axle with your design? Very cool if that is the case.

No bolt on the end of axle !!!!! they just clamp on to the end of the axle , Caster & Camber adjustments are made much easier . The steering servo mount, no holes thru axle to weaken it , It clamps on to axle,,, Robert

Robert you aren't stepping on any toes . I saw your first design under your full cage stock car thread and we talked about using the slider and guide system , and seeing as how your machine work is cleaner than mine I asked you make the parts for me,( Servo plate and clamps ). My design was always lacking something but I saw the solution in your design using some parts I 've been using and your plate and clamp design . Can't wait till I get ahold of them and put on my axle . Thanks with working with me on this and I feel your design will solve alot of headaches in the long run .

Randy Thank you for your Reply , It is appreciated ,I spent two days just trying to get all the messurments correct ,so I could put the steering servo plate together , That means as you know there is a lot of mock up then tear down then mock up again , Thank you for your input on this project and thank you to those that have designed the original parts , There has been alot of research and development getting this hobby to were it is today . Hopefuly the days of trial and error are over ,, Robert

Didn't mean to imply you were stepping on any toes. Randy came up with this idea when he and I were bench racing on a trip home from Dallas race. It sure does make things easier on the sprint cars. I'm curious to see the parts you sent Randy. Your work is very good from the parts I have seen.

Well Randy It's done ,, First the steering blocks are basically the same it;s just the bolt holes in my block are 6-32 the holes in your block are 10-32 had to do a little moving for the size of the locknuts , The steering servo plate is tapped at 8-32 with ,Steering plate should be in your hands in a few days . Thank you Robert

Here it is again after talking too a couple of people [ Randy, Jeff ] I decided to do some small changes to the front axle kit for a sprint car there will be more photos of it in my photos . I still have to make my self some new spindles for this kit [ my choice ] not required as the stock ones work fine
the change was in the clamping kit ,servo mnt to axle ,, Robert

You won't be disappointed Jim ,I am very pleased with how this project has turned out, I have been very busy makin all the parts that go with the front axle kit [ some body tell me I can go fishing ] This has been an expensive project for me had to buy a grinder for my lathe just to make an endmill to cut out the slider blocks , then tryed three different type's of plastic's before I found the correct one ,Yea it has been fun , The camber and caster ajustments on the WCM sprint car are so much easier to do now , This is one of the best feature's Robert

Robert , forgot to get back to you earlier , got the servo mount kit in the mail Friday . Nice piece of work , fits between the frame rails fine and the geometry worked like we talked about . alls left is the on track try out and I don't see any problems there . Thanks for the help ,

Thank you Randy , The change was an easy fix , To get good smooth steering with no binding is our goal , Getting away from bolting the rack to the axle and clamping it on instead ,makes the axle stronger [ no holes ] ,and it is easier to change an axle ,just loosen clamps and slide out the axle , Robert

You're right there Robert , smooth steering and no holes to mount the servo bracket on . Another advantage to having everything clamp on is if you want to play around with the offset , loosening up the clamps and sliding the mounts on the axle to the desired position doesn't take long .
