You guys were so helpful on the 2-cycle forum that I'll try my luck again. We have a riding mower with a 42A707 19 hp engine. It starts fine but needs the choke halfway out after a few minutes of running in warm air conditions and surges continually. Any thoughts? Thank you.

It sounds to me like you have an obstruction in the carburetor, I would give it a good clean out and rebuild. Ill tell you to also replace the fuel line just because I was working on a snow blower tonight where the fuel line was breaking apart inside the line and clogging the carburetor.
