I recieved a call today informing me that the Royal Oak Grand National is not going to happen this year.
The failing economy and the Northwood shopping center changes are to blame.
I would like to pesonally thank everyone who has ever participated at this event. I have had the pleasure of race directing some of the best 1/4 scale drivers in the country over the last 6 years, and stand in awe of your driving abilites as well as your willingness to support this race for its 20 year run.
I could write a book about all the memories the Royal race has left me. The great racing ,the great people, both racers and volunteers, the the atmosphere of race day, and also the bad, stormy weather, wrecked race cars, drivers that couldn't make it at the last minute, and now a sour economy. I attended every race except R.O. 10, either as a driver, voluteer, pit man, race director, promotor, track cleaner and any other job that needed doing to keep this race alive.
Again, a 20 year "THANK YOU "to all who have supported this race.

Bryan:
I am very sorry to hear that it won't happen this year. Maybe next year will be better for all. I have enjoyed being part of this race ever since I found it. Be it a racer, spotter or what ever I could do to help out. I have really enjoyed being part of it. I also have been blessed to be able to gather with some of the finest racers in the U.S.of A.. To all that have helped with this event thank you so very much. It has been my pleasure.

I hope we can find another way of making simmilar event at some point in the future. I've always had a blast at the ROGN and have had much intrest from other people wanting to come back this year.

Brian, Thank you and your family soooooo much for all your effort and hard work. I know you all did way more than most know about. Hope you guys can make it to the track more this year too.

Sad news for everyone involved, especially the kids that this event helped...Why is Northwood shopping center to blame too?

Man, is there not another parking lot to be used? Can we racers send an email to anyone with hopes of keeping the event going this year?
