I'm wanting to take a 1/24 die cast car and make a replica in HO scale.

Anybody know if it's possible to take pictures of the panels and reduce them in photoshop or some other software and make decals?

Thanks in advance

I would scan them and then reduce them. Have never made decals before but, this seems logical to me.

If you have decals winding then it may be hard to do? Don't have a picture here to see so, not sure. A picture would be helpfull and heck some one may have already made them for ho depending on what they are...need more info please.

Oooooh yeah! Welcome to Hobby Talk desototjets

Bob...hope this helps...zilla

"desototjets" - does that make you an old school Mopar guy like my Dad was ? He had a '50 Dodge, '56 NYer, a '65 Fury III & a '69 Imperial LeBaron. I just had a '71 Valiant/money pit but thats ancient history.
Any how welcome to the "BrotherHOod"

I have made some nice decals with the Testors decal kit. Many atempts on regular paper before final run. To capture off of the internet has been kinda lucky. If you want better pics to reduce rather than enlarge and then reduce use your camera and then reduce so you have control of the pixels. It can be done if you have the patience and a good editor like photoshop. Results may vary. Here is the roof off a Hotwheels bus I altered to tyco. Carl doing his first backflip in HO scale. Yes it can be done.

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Bob, I've enjoyed your reading you posts for the last 6 months or so. Enjoy the monster additions to your creations as well. Not sure what other info you are requesting. A photo of the car I want to reduce?

Neal, I'm in DeSoto County, MS, thus the name. Never thought of the auto.

This is the car:

I've heard of people taking the 1/24 scale decals sheets and scanning then scaling them down with great results. Not sure you'd like the results trying to scan a bod and then make decals. But that's why we're here. Give it a go, what do you have to loose? Keep us posted. rr

Pattos does this too - I sent him the Minolta & Taka-Q Toyota decals to scan, plus the factory Corvette C5-R ALMS car. A simple e-mail "Hey would you be interested in doing this?" and a "Sure, send it down mate" was all it took.

Gotta love the innernet.

If you're looking to do NAStyCAR dacals, what may work better is skins for EA's NASCAR '09. You can prob'ly do a google search and find all sorts of skins these would be flattened out already and simple to resize and print.
