My sincere condolanaces 'Doba. Losing the spokesman for your automotive namesake.

I remember watching RM on the Tonight Show right after he got the job doing commercials for Chrysler. Sat down in the chair, went on and on about the car and how much he loved it until Carson pretty much shut him down... Chrysler must have been jumping for joy.

But a friend's parents had a Cordoba - Ricardo was right. And it was fast too LOL.

Sure was an icon for '70's TV. "Smiles everyone, smiles."

Sure as heck were... Little old lady two houses away growing up had one, but she had no idea it was. Had a 4 bbl 400 with dual exhaust and she putted around town in it... rarely above idle..lol!! Neighbor and childhood pal shoveled her driveway every winter. Gotta move the 'Doba to shovel dontcha?? Many a smile watching my buddy "unintentionally" spin the tires when he moved it!!! "Sorry Mrs Nicholas... it's the ice." nd

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corinthian_leather No such thing as Corintian Leather, Marketing gimmick. And Trekies might say Kaaaaaaaahn, but Trekers would say Khaaaaaaan u know from the '67 tv episode, Ricardo played that part also/too. Not to mention Gunsmoke, Hawaii Five-O, Police Story, Wonder Woman, the guy was all over the TV Dial, but all he is remembered for is a thirty second add for an American "Union" made POS.
Boy that ought to start a fight, I know how many HT members live in Mich.. but before you get to mad, my family had one. and I have a '99 Dakota, luv it, but it's still......

I used to love how RM referred to the Cordoba as the "small" Chrysler..........got the chance to drive a '75 in my early 20s. It didn't feel small at all.

May RM rest in peace.

Klingons having ugly foreheads is explained in an episode of Deep Space Nine. It was some type of DNa experiment or some such thing that lead to the big forehead. So sometime between the 1967 episode and the Star Trek II movie, is when this forehead thing happened.
Sorry About Ricardo, RIP !

Yes, Ricardo will be missed. When I was in high school, they made us read a story in literature called,"The Most Dangerous Game". I really liked the story and thought it would make a good movie, especially if they casted Ricardo as the hunter, and Robert Redford as the hunted.
My aunt had a 75 Cordoba and my uncle had an '82 model after her. I ran across a '78 in a trailer park when I was looking for a car in 01. The guy said he would take $200 for it. I drove it home proudly. It was all original copper, with a creme white vinyl top. The interior was kind of a plad tan. It had a 360 with a 904 tranny. It ran great. I took the bent up trim off of the wheel wells, touched up a scratch on the fender, and cleaned the original hub caps. Man it looked sweet, but the interior smelled horrible! :drunk: I guess the guy never heard of a rest stop, or let his dog sleep in the car or something. Gallons of febreeze and boxes of Arm&Hammer later, it was bearable. When the tranny went out, I thought I would take it out myself. When I got under it, I couldn't believe it. The torsion bars ran right along side the transmission. It appeared you had to take them out first before you could pull the tranny. I called the shop. They gave me an estimate and I had it hauled over there. When they were done, the bill was twice the estimate, of course. I couldnt afford it at the time, and the shop insisted the charges were fair. I didnt know what to do, and feared the car might be a money pit, so I let them keep it. $1000 seemed too much for the car, especially when I had a tranny rebuilt for my Monaco a few years earlier for $300. So, thanks Ricardo, for all those Fantasy Island dreams that I had for a short time, but be careful, choose wisely, because your fantasy just may turn into a nightmare.

 Another car I let slip away, and still have dreams about.

Rich
