View Full Version : spektrem dx3r questions!
cyoder#9 01-15-2009, 01:33 AM I just got a new radio a dx3r! I have a losi late model with a high speed metal gear servo! It is to fast ! I want to slow it down! been reading the instructions but still alittle confused...Which function should I use? I have been reading on the expo in the user manual but I can't figure out if the positive or negative expo will slow the servo down. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Cory

negative
SeanC42 01-15-2009, 04:03 AM On the DX3R negative expo is a positive and positive expo is a negative.
Not sure why but that is how it works.
cyoder#9 01-15-2009, 10:20 AM thanks sean ! I thought that is what my manual said! now can eny one explain trim step 2 me?been racing 15 years with old radios! this new seems scary!
Dski93 01-15-2009, 02:00 PM Trim step fine tunes the sensitivity of the steering and throttle trims.
For example, if you adjust the steering trim (just the quick button next to the wheel) and the car tracks left slightly... if 1 click right of the steering trim makes the car track too far right (past straight)... you could use the trim step to make one click of the steering trim less servo throw.

so from 1 to 20 20 would be more throw or less?
Lester24 01-22-2009, 05:26 PM click menu:
then click steering rate
Keep turning it down till you like it.
Try starting with about 60 or 70% if you have a blazing fast servo.
MAKE SURE!!! your frame rate is set at 5.5ms if you have a digital servo.

Steering rate will NOT slow the servo down, it will just limit how far it moves.
and
You dont HAVE to have it set to 5.5ms for a digital servo. You just cant have it set at 5.5ms for a analog servo.
To answer the question, there is no way to adjust steering speed on the DX3R. (yes, it sux, i know) Expo will help compensate a little, but expo is to make the center of the range a little "mushy".
CClay1282 01-22-2009, 10:56 PM so from 1 to 20 20 would be more throw or less?
Set the trim step at 1.
On the radio trim step is how many "clicks" the trim button actually moves the servo. 1 is the least amount of moving. It is important to set it at 1 to get a vehicle to track straight (unless you get lucky).

THanks will have to try that !
Porksalot4L 01-24-2009, 12:49 AM honestly people think that the expo doesnt work as well as the "speed" setting but in my opinion it works just as well. if my car feels twitchy on the straights and getting into the corner all i do is go from 0 to +10. try it and you should notice it makes the car more stable. also if my car feels like its not responding like i want it i go from 0 to -10 or so and it definatly speeds it up. the futaba "speed" setting only slows the feel down. with expo it slows it down and speeds it up. deffinatly give this a try b4 just saying it doesnt work. in my opinion it works great.
Sonny B 01-24-2009, 01:05 AM Porksalot4L solution will work.
You could also use the stock receiver that came with your late model. It will run in DSM1 mode and be slightly less sensitive.
