Ya beat me to it Kevin.. I had photobucket issues.. I did a bit of scratching around in yahoo, and came up with a few likely candidates...

These are Athearn HO scale fire trucks, and have seen both modified to A T Jet chassis. The Pumper truck is a major challenge due to clearance issues between the cab and the back section, but if I can do it, I think just about anyone can.. Mine was a bit more crowded due to the wiring of the LEDs I put in it. If you Search ebay..HO trains.. Athearn..fire trucks you'll find them in an assortment of color variations..

They are highly detailed, but some of the details are on the fragile side..Good luck and post results pleeeeze!! Joe

thanks guys for the quick replys. the gmc is really close to what i'm thinking about (without ladders). i have this vision of a 60s ford 150 type truck with pretty basic pumps and hoses in the bed and old school fire detailing. but it may be in my imagination. actually i was going to style it as a static model. i don't know if a running model will make it around my banked turns. ha.
thanks and i will keep you posted. mj

Mini Lindy GMC tow truck truck body makes a great donor for a 1960's firetruck.
Even has a stake bed you can use for the rescue truck box.
Easy conversion and not much work.
I love mini Lindy models..
