View Full Version : A Little Dremel fun Project Car Hauler
TJETDRAGRACER 01-11-2009, 11:31 PM Hay I found this pic of a MatchBox school bus car hauler. Now I have to make a trip to the Toy Store and come home and have some fun with my Dremel. I hope that mine turns out as good as the one in the pic.~Did anyone ever have a mishap with a Dremel? I almost cut a t-jet in half by accident, Not a pretty site.~blood and plastic flying every where.:drunk:
1976Cordoba 01-11-2009, 11:36 PM Wow - verrrrry nice.
I put a Dremel sawblade through the tip of my finger once - that was fun.

rideinstile 01-11-2009, 11:38 PM MEEE LIKEY!!!! That's a really nice job!!!
NTxSlotCars 01-11-2009, 11:57 PM One time, at band camp, I had one of those cutting disk break and hit me in the eye. Fortunately, the dremel was on low and my Spidey sense kicked in just before it happened.
Always wear safety glasses.

slotcarman12078 01-12-2009, 12:34 AM Not me!!! I learned my lesson with the lawn mower!!! Almost 4 hours in the ER, 26 stitches, a pin through the tip of my index finger to hold the end on the bone in place, and a cast up to my elbow for 4 months... The blade also went halfway through my middle finger. Needless to say, it was not a good day.... There were a few highlights though.. I never seen my buddies 68 GTO run as fast as it did as he drove me to the police dept.. I got a very cool high speed ride in a Police car to the hospital.... And the nurse was HOT. Other than that though, the day pretty much sucked...

tjd241 01-12-2009, 07:45 AM That race hauler was done by Rick Voegelin for Roger Corrie's 2006 Camaro Bash. It won the Concours d'Elegance for haulers. nd
TJETDRAGRACER 01-12-2009, 02:32 PM Hay do you know what scale school bus that he used for this project? I think that a MatchBox one would be to small, Maybe an O scale one may work better?
slotcarman12078 01-12-2009, 02:44 PM I think the 1:43 would be way too big. The busses made by con-cor are probably the ones to use. I bought a couple of them last spring to experiment with, but I was new to the customizing arena at the time, and resold them. Now I kinda wish I held on to them. They are about an inch longer, and a little wider than the mini lindy bus. They are lightweight, thin molded plastic, and would be fairly easy to modify (knowing what I know now). They are available on the bay from time to time, and the seller I got them from had them for $5.00 each if i recall correctly.

slotcarman12078 01-12-2009, 04:31 PM I also think the herpa is the same as concor. Here's a link to get an idea what it looks like... http://cgi.ebay.com/HERPA-HO-SCALE-SCHOOL-BUS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ484QQihZ007QQitemZ1 70292792705QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVWQQsalenotsupport ed
gear buster 01-12-2009, 09:09 PM slotcar,
Didn't anyone ever tell You not to chop up slots with a lawn mower.
Dremmel is much safer...;). Jk.
Man that made my fingers hurt.:(
Nice looking bus. Never thought I would see one of those in HO.
resinmonger 01-12-2009, 09:11 PM Rick Voegelin did a three part article in Home Racing World about building the two Camaros. THe links for each part are given below.
http://www.homeracingworld.com/rvprojectcamaropartone.htm
http://www.homeracingworld.com/rvprojectcamaroparttwo.htm
http://www.homeracingworld.com/rvprojectcamaroparttwo.htm
The articles are great but they only cover the cars, not the hauler. Maybe somebody in the HT family knows Rick and could convince to spill the beans on the hauler. I'd sure like to read how he created it.
Hutts love cool Haulers! :drunk::hat::freak::dude:
