This looks interesting. Are there more than 3 races? On THe flier it look slike there maybe more but cant see the entire section.

Our new Track In Mass would be the perfect track size for your classes.

congrats to all the winners of the last race at the toybox. Lennie Dobson comes in and puts a hurting on the field of sk's he was closely followed by Eben Greenleaf who battled back from a lap down to finish second and Ron come in a close third. The battle for the sk class will come down to the last race of the series at Cumberland on April 5. The legend put on a good show as well in the heat races it was Bill Brink showing the way but when it came to the mains it was Dennis Rushlow bringing it home with the win Bill finished second and Shelby came in with a solid third place finish. the points in the legend class is the best battle in the series with only 4 points from 1st and 3rd. Eben Greenleaf was very fast in the main for the cot race he and, Bill Brink put on a very good battle as they try and decide who will win the points battle between them. Eben won the battle at the toybox Bill Brink, and Lennie Dobson in Third with Bill Hanson in fourth. The next Race with be at Cumberland on April 5 Time will be posted next week .Thanks to all the racers for making the race at the toybox a great one see you all at Cumberland. Ron

It would be a nice gesture for some Maxi regs to attend CCRCR's race on april 5th
they do have a 1 cell 13.5 class and most I believe have raced at maximus in the past and I hope if we show some support for thier race they would in turn show support for the Iron Maximus.

Why that sounds like an excellent idea Bill can't seem to beat Eben someone needs to. IF I'm not mistaking I believe the Burton car was the car you beat everyone with at breakneck the last time you raced it . Bill Hanson I think may have something for you guys down there. He has his car going very fast. must be the new batterys. Hey Bill I'm even bringing my own car for this one I've been testing and it seems really fast. It was my dads old car maybe some of his spirit will be with it next weekend can't wait I hope it will be a good group for the finally. The following week we will do the trophies and some racing at breakneck I hope everyone can make it. Having It as quick as we can because I know everyone will be gearing up for summer and it will be hard to get everyone together if we wait. I think everyone will be happy with the trophy selection. I've been testing a different battery for the cot class its the windtunnel sport pack and its awsome.. great power though the whole run it lets you run you best laps all they way instead of a few laps at the start of the race. I think it would be a good step up from the trinity pack.

FLYINGFINN#8
03-26-2009, 09:15 PM
I would like a 17.5/1c COT class

FLYINGFINN#8
03-26-2009, 09:18 PM
The smc 1 cell cost the same as 3 spec packs, but you ony need one to race

breakneckrc
03-26-2009, 11:15 PM
I know the battery is something that is an issue the 17.5 and the 1cell lipo are very close to being the same as the spec motor and the spec battery. we will be getting all the questions and hopefully get some good feedback on what it will take to make the spec tour better and get more racers involved. I know that brushless and lipo is the way that is going looking but I don't want to force out the brushed guys in the process. it may come down to running two cot classes which I don't have a problem with myself if there is enough of both. not really sure how to go about it without making someone mad or left out. but I do agree that lipo is cheaper and easier to manage as well as brushless.

rex
03-27-2009, 08:38 AM
What if the COT just changes the battery leaving all else as is? Perhaps the SK class could be used for trying different combinations? BTW, Eben, if you slow down a little I'll watch your back too! LOL

breakneckrc
03-27-2009, 04:36 PM
that might be a good idea also rex it is all something that we can talk about next week.

FLYINGFINN#8
03-27-2009, 05:28 PM
Not trying to push the lipo stuff. But when you buy 3 or 4 spec packs and only one is good thats the thing you don't have with lipos. Maybe have another class like a pro COT.

breakneckrc
03-27-2009, 06:33 PM
your right brad the only reason that we even went with the spec pack was to keep the cost down for the racers. I don't have any problems going lipo and brushless with a 17.5 as you say for a pro class or what ever you may want to call it . the spec battery is going up in price and we are having a hard time getting them so we will more than likely be doing something else anyway. the windtunnel pack that I'm trying is a lot better than the trinity spec pack it holds up much better and performs throughout the run again something else to look at. Thanks for all the good input...

03-27-2009, 11:29 PM
LOL wiah you had said something Wed. Ron before I bought that spec pack. I probably would of held off til the issues was decided. Worse case the kids can use it when they get their Legend car. See ya on Wed.

Roger

breakneckrc
03-28-2009, 04:41 AM
Roger we still are going to run the spec packs but yeah the kids will still be able to run them in legends. we will talk about it more on Weds. good luck on the fishing trip or the drinking trip which ever it may be. LoL ....

Ebens been running 17.5 / lipo @ benton. Slower than spec motor / battery combination. Just need to go a couple teeth lower with the pinion. Maybe a max around a 20 will keep them equal. Up to the group of people running these but its not about going fast but having fun racing. I dont think there are enough racers around right now to split up to have a PRO class that would be slower anyway.
Brad you coming to Cumberland next week? C'mon build a car, come race with us.

BIll I've been running a windtunnel battery the 3000 sport pack and at breakneck i ran 63 laps and i think i could have done 64 with a clean run. the battery really works good. you can run your best lap almost every lap. It may be the battery to use next season with the spec motor. the lap times are 3.8 with the cot and 3.7 and 3.8 for the sks. I ran 2 races on one charge first race i ran 63 laps and the second 4 min. I ran 59 second run was a bit slower but it still out performed the spec packs. I will bring it next weekened and give you guys a taste. I may be down on Tues. night if work will allow it . talk to you soon.:tongue:

Hi Guys,
First off I must say that the COT class [ which I lovingly call--"Crazy old timers"---] is a very good class. Possibly the best in years. I would like to see the present COT class [Rules] evolve into a 17.5 1 cell lipo class. I have been doing some testing at Benton and Cumberland RC tracks. I have found that the 17.5 1c lipo is approximately 2 laps slower than the current COT class. I have also ran the current COT but using a 1c lipo instead of the current 4 cell. With the 1c lipo and the current "brushed" motor I ran a 2.75 "Rollout" and was about the same speed as the 1c 17.7 lipo.
I would like to have the 3 classes mentioned above to be of equal speed. If that were true then the current Cot class could buy a lipo battery [when the 4 cells go "carput"] and eventually buy a 17.5 motor and speedo to upgrade. A newbie could buy a 17.5 "setup".
This is what I think will work using current COT rules and only changing the "running gear".
17.5 lipo open gear rule
Current "brushed" motor with 1c lipo open gear rule
Current "brushed" motor with 4 cell 81t spur--20t pinion
I have found that the 3 classes listed above are the same speed & same lap times.
Sorry for such a long post but I thought you'd like to see my results of about 3 weeks testing. I will be at Cumberland tuesday and Benton Friday. Maybe we can do some more testing!! Eben
