View Full Version : Hongwell Land-Rover Defender 110
Chris Sweetman 01-11-2009, 06:52 AM Here is one of my bargain buys of 2008. The detail on this model is amazing and it only cost me £2.50! The photos below were taken on location! Enjoy! :)

Any photo posted here Karl is of great value.
The location was some miles away from my back garden!

dragonhead00 01-11-2009, 07:21 PM That is a great looking Defender! Chris. Great pics, as well.
SMS88 01-11-2009, 07:30 PM Very impressive photos:thumbsup: - the location really sets the Landie up as the fine representation that it is.Its a shame that Hongwell have started casting front doors shut on castings made in the past 2 or 3 years, as the same models were incredible play value with opening doors, and typically sold at local £1/$2 stores around the UK.
My favourite Hongwell casting has to be the Mini, with the earliest issues having a sculptured rather than printed grille and clear plastic light inserts

Thank you dragonhead00! :) I am impressed with many Hongwells and this L-R is first class!
I can't wait for the weather to improve and try and take some more snaps like these! ;)

Glad you like the photos SMS88! :) I also took some more snaps of other Land-Rover models. These will be posted soon.
You are right there have been some interesting Hongwells released with opening doors. Just bought a VW Concept Minibus. This one has nicely fitted opening doors!

SMS88 01-12-2009, 08:00 PM The first issue black Lotus Europa is awesome quality - I paid £5 for it in a 3 pack which included a Morgan & Capri - phenominal value -I darent think how poorly paid the factory workers must be.....
Here are my favourite Mk1 Minis -the black car has swapped front bumpers with the red car.....£1 each:)

ClearHooter 01-12-2009, 08:41 PM Sooooo much more detail than the smaller scales. And not much less than the larger. Very nice!
karl s 01-12-2009, 08:45 PM Great L-R and Minis - here is another one, a little more to the north perhaps?

Superbird77 01-13-2009, 02:36 PM I wonder how they are able to keep such low prices with so many details, and quality looks good too - no misaligned pieces and tampos etc.. Detailed Land Rover logo on the front grille is extremely small!
And yes, pictures are beautiful too, they could be easily used in the promotion materials for this brand. Keep them coming!

I agree SMS88 Hongwells are great value for money! How they do it for the price is anyones guess! Their Minis are excellent! I obtained a red Lotus Europa in the summer and it is an impressive piece with opening doors that include the window frames.
Cheers Chris

Chris Sweetman 01-13-2009, 08:40 PM Thanks for all your replies and comments. :)
It is nice to know that there are collectors that appreciate budget buys.
And at times these are every bit as good as models costing much more.
Well done to Hongwell and let us hope there are more new releases to look forward to! ;)
Cheers Chris
