FastC6Vette 01-10-2009, 04:02 AM Are there Green Machines made in this series?
Not my thing, but it looks like GL did a very nice job with them. The removable hoods and clear headlights are cool.

Agreed, not something I collect, but they look well done
casper60 01-10-2009, 06:53 PM Are these finally available? I work on the #60 car pictured above, and keep hearing these were coming but haven't seen any. would love to pick up a few.
Not bad, a little off, but not bad.

Always cool to get an insider take. What's off on these Greenlights?
casper60 01-10-2009, 11:47 PM For some reason the window area doesn't look right on a few of the cars, but then again that may just be they way they are painted up because the Ganassi Target car looks dead on while the 60 doesn't look quite right. Maybe it's just me. Actually now that I look at the pics closer, The area behind the drivers side window is not lined up properly. Not sure if it's just a paint issue, or if it may be a window height issue.

The only other issue I see is the size of the wheels and tires. It looks like it's in race trim for the Dakar Rally.. lol
Other than that, they did an excellent job replicating the Riley Mk XX chassis. I'm happy they chose to do our car in the initial run. I would have like to see our sister car as well but we'll take what we can get
69Stang 01-11-2009, 09:46 AM Yes, it's neat to hear the inside angle. I have been waiting for these for MONTHS!!! I can't waite to have mine, This is exactly what I have been waiting on from the gang at GL!

I could not have said this any better....one of the most unique releases in recent memory and some will only find them worthwile if they have chase cars! I am not picking on you FastC6Vette, you have been a chase guy all along, but you know what I mean, many will place no value on this remarkable release, unless they produce a green.

Yes sir - Chassis & Rims I think
plankowner 01-19-2009, 03:01 PM A nice set of cars indeed! A+ for doing some unique cars!
Pablodragon 01-20-2009, 07:05 PM unique?... why do they all look like the same car with just different paint?
...reminds me of all the NASCAR stuff...

Maybe but they make no airs about being anything but a spec car with different makes of engines. They are unique in that no one else has them. Different strokes...:)
69Stang 01-21-2009, 09:15 AM Remember, NASCAR owns the marketing arm of Grand-Am racing. In fact , I think they bought them out right in September, here is a quote from an on-line headline I grabbed from a google search...
"Daytona Beach-based NASCAR Holdings Inc. will acquire Grand-American Road Racing Association LLC within the next 30 days for an undisclosed amount." Sept. 30, 2008
So they really have the "spec" thing down to a science! I think the PROTOTYPE makes great racing, even though I don't tend to be a spec guy. When I was in th GL "Under The Hood Club", the management addressed my questions as to if they would make the cars brand specific (there are small differences, but the basic core is all the same) and he said no. As part of making the casting cost effective, they had to all agree to one casting and just make changes with tampos.
I do not know the future of GL and racing castings. Even though it's the IRL / INDY cars that brought them to the industry. The word on the street is that Tony George at IRL did not renew their License this year, opting for a more attractive offer from Mattel. So it looks like they are out of the Indy car business. I have no idea how long they will try to keep something as obscure as this casting alive.
So with all that said, I am THRILLED that GL made this casting at all. I would love to see them take on the Le Mans / ALMS prototypes, but there are just so many different cars I don't think they could ever recoup their tooling cost.
...opps...I rambled...they ARE the same car!

Well said! Thanks for clarifying what I mistook as an obvious statement. I like this set and would like a set of Can-Am cars even more!
