HERSHEYSQUIRTS 09-15-2009, 08:55 AM Yea, thanks Wendy, great brownies, and no I didnt eat half the plate, Pauly brought over a large brownie while I was racing I think, I got back and BAM!!! brownie, thanx Pauly for delivering.
Hey didnt i hear that if you ran more than 3 classes you get into the banquet free? lol, just a rumor i heard......
Also would like to thank Tonia and Don for bringin some kick ass chilli and goulash, lol, I was so full when I got home I crashed hard, lol. Thanx again to all the Losi Ducks, see yall at the banquet.
I had a great time, some heats were rougher than others, but all in all a good time. Sorry John, but here goes, I think we should have watered, the track may have held together a little better. It got really rutted out right before the drop off and you cant blame the 1/8th scales 100%. I couldnt see my 1/8th scale in the main cause it was so dusty. You can say that watering doesnt give everyone a fair chance, but really we didnt have a fair chance anyway, I TQ stock buggy in the first round with Panther switches, they never worked after that. I ran ok with ifmar pins on my truck in the second qually, they didnt work for the mains, hence broken truck on practice lap, BTW thanx to Sean Bain for lending me his truck, otherwise I would have gotten third to Nick Max for the final points in stk truck. Soo done with the losi, on to the Kyosho RT5, cant wait for next year.
At least if you water it keeps the dust down. Just my two cents.
We ran a crap ton of laps and the track BARELY started to blue, I think different clay or a loamy track would be better. I love the loamy tracks, very fun and ton of traction, step pins all the way baby!!! Dont take this the wrong way, just my opinions.
Fred B, that was an awsome stock buggy A main, great racing!!!
See yall at the banquet
Apple
Don't forget to thank Tim Brink too.......

I dont blame ya.. I race 1/8 E ,but when I marshaled for the other 1/8E class there was a couple buggys with a black painted body that needs to learn how to Drive, and let there finger off the throttle when marshaled.

For sure. I know there was one younger teen that drove 1/8th and 1/10 4wd, and every time I saw him on the track all he was doing was pulling the trigger. Had no "driving" abilities at all. Drove it like an On/Off switch. I'm sure we are talking about the same dude. I think his bodies were black/purple. If I had to marshal for a class he was in, I made sure I watched out for his so I didn't get hit.

Thats the one..... One time he stuff it in the tube and got stuck so I went to get him but as soon as I went to get it he mashed on the thottle and spit a foam right out of his tire.. It was... well just stupid....

Hello, I happen to also know who you are talking about, but have to disagree.
I have raced with this person for the last two years and I would say that they are a pretty good driver. Now after saying this He can have bad races and we all do for that matter.
He is sometimes a little anxious but he is a good driver and knows when he is driving too hard.
Isnt it possible that maybe he had tires that were the exact opposite for the track and that made him appear to be out of control?
I know I had tires that didnt work for crap, and was struggling to keep my car turned in the right direction, especially in my 4wd main.
I think that maybe some of the crazy driving can be blamed on the track surface, and the "Track Maintenance" that was done. By my second heat of 8th scale it was pretty bad.
Just saying, just because someone has a bad day or isnt setup for a track, doesn't make them a bad driver and doesnt mean they deserve to be criticized publically.
Leonard 09-16-2009, 04:00 PM I don't care if you aint set up for a track or not ! Those things are fast and can be dangerous ! No marshall was there hoping to get hit by a 10 pound missile. If you aint set up right pull the thing off the track or here's a concept, drive it slower instead of risking injuring someone. Called common sense. I don't know about you but I didn't see a trophy big enough there worth hurting someone over. Sure accidents will happen but as a driver it is your responsabilty to limit the chances, not just put a rubberband on the throttle and hammer it around the track.

WarpWind 09-16-2009, 04:28 PM I do have to agree. Those 1/8th scales were quite possibly the scariest thing I've ever seen on a track. And oddly enough, quite appealing. If the motors get scaled back a bit I may have take the plunge.
Bill.

Yes the drivers should be carefull, but it is a two way thing, If a marshall gets hurt when they were standing in the end of a straight is it fully there fault?
HandyRacing 09-16-2009, 04:32 PM The thing is they are more powerful than their nitro versions. With that, I wera safety toes / over the ankle boots, and only experienced marshals should be on the track. Dan used to require experienced folks @ Washtenaw...
02fire 09-16-2009, 04:33 PM Ya i seen that guy he was just pissed cuz some guy stoped it the straght and TOTALED his car
92Z28 09-16-2009, 04:49 PM honestly guys this is the morl series it isnt exactly filled with the greatest drivers exspecially compared to the FTMS so you gotta expect people to be crashing and marshalls getting hurt. and you can definitly blame the track for most of it exspecially the leaf blower guy hoplessly blowing dust all over into your eyes if for some reason i go there next year im bring my goggles for sure

its not the marshals fault if they get hurt the driver has the trigger and should let off it only take one lap to know the track is slick and then drive smooth I was up side down with my stock truck and accidently hit the trigger as the marshal reach for it and he stoped and would not touch it I dont blame him at all for not grabing it it all comes down to the driver

I sorta agree, I have a problem with marshalls who get injured and then complain it was the driver, when in reality they were standing in the middle of a straight, with 8th scale, you cant just hit the brakes and stop. 7 - 10 pounds is a lot of weight for a car, add a slick track and you would just slide. There really is not a way of blaming the driver even if they had half a straight of heads up, it would be difficult to actually avoid someone, espacially other cars that you couldn't see to begin with.
And the driver complained about in the previous posts, I have never seen him actually hurt a marshall, he knows how to drive a car, and wants to win. so what if he gets agressive, alot of people can drive agressively, and most people know the limits of their driving abilities and the car.

I know this dude too, I was running second behind Champy at Stateline, this kid took me out instead of lifting just a little, slower is faster dude. I confronted him just to say have a little respect for peeps lapping him, he had the nerve to tell me he was lapping ME and I should have gotten out of his way, lmfao, NOT COOL DUDE!

I dissagree, these 8 lb missles have MAD brakes, I can stop on a dime and give up some change, even at a slick track. At full throttle down the straight i only need like 8-10 feet to come to a complete stop, they stop alot harder than they accelerate.

that "dude" was 10 seconds of tq pace before you got in his way and wouldn't let him by when he was trying to LAP you and poped the ball cup off
HandyRacing 09-16-2009, 05:35 PM Just to clarify, the "black" car that wa having some trouble was in the B-Main and no one got run into or hurt. -t was during the A-Main that a marshal was standing in the middle of the track and got run into. You can hear it when it happens on the vid. Let's not blame the kid, when it was an A-Main driver that nearly injured the Marshal.

add in reaction time and the distance between full throttle and full brake and it can easily turn into twenty feet
sbrady#0 09-16-2009, 06:17 PM not sure how you stop a 1/8 scale but my 1/10 2wd will slide on a slick track it slides on one with good traction some time it is car control you ether have it or you are a missle a marshal in the track must have bee out to help some one I have never seen any stand in the track for no reson and as a driver you still have the streering you can use I hope

With 8th scalers if you are hard on the brakes generally the rear tires will either rotate backward(thin center diff oil) and cause massive oversteer while not slowing you down real fast or lock up(thick center diff fluid) and cause almost no steering.
88Iroc 09-16-2009, 08:18 PM your welcome i have a big old bruise on my foot 1" wide by 4" i ant never going to volunteer for them 1/8 scale buggys
Sorry to see you get hit... At least you walked away but was scary to see you get knocked down... Just reminds me of the care one needs to take when marshalling ANY class but 1/8 scale even more so. I try to stand on a pipe if I can't get out of the track before the track clears enought to get back to my marshall spot. As to the Black/Purple car He was in the B main and was one of the marshalls out on the track when this happened. for the posts claiming that he was the one that knocked you down O would suggest they watch the video he is on the cone in the center of the track...
scramblerman 09-16-2009, 09:05 PM sounds like a whole lotta b.... about something we all deal with driving in a pretty much spectater point of view you cant always see everything coming up as fast a you would like thats why we need marshalls and during alot of heats and mains i heard alot of people calling out to the drivers to let them no about a car in the way becouse they know the drivers cant always see far enough ahead to react with the right decesion just like 28th look both ways before crossing lets just have fun and learn from this and drivers stop yelling at marshalls you put the car there not them
Leonard 09-16-2009, 10:51 PM Called Punch It U Aint Gunna Have Fun Goin Slow If U Did Noone Would Be Racin
Alright, you go like hell and be on your lid 8 times and I'll keep it smooth then we will look at the points. Sometimes slower is FASTER !
1 Yes marshals need to look out BUT there are spots to marshal where vehicles can be going in 3 directions at once.
2 1/8th scale are bigger, heavier and faster and that gives the driver more responsabilty to drive it in a safe manner.
I never said anyone was seriously injured at this race , just more potential with those things. And as far as the track being blown out, after being at all five races this year, I would say this track held up one of the best. Remember this is off road.

HandyRacing 09-17-2009, 12:18 AM well if you watched the video of the A main marshal number 4 had plenty of time to get the buggy but he was inconvenienced in watching the race i came from marshaling spot 1 witch marshaling number 4 is half way down the track and as for getting out of the way i turned around and had a split second to think and this white boy can't jump that quick:tongue: so the great anowser ground hog had said stay to the inside of the strait depth ears must of fallen on the driver stand as well this is all im saying and yes i have hit people but i wasn't looking in-front of my trucks maybe some drivers need to learn porifical vision
Crash, I saw you get hit out of the corner of my eye and noticed you had traveled a long way. Was relieved you were fairly OK considering it was such a close call and could have ended up a lot of worse than it did.
I've seen so many close calls with these 8th scales, especially on small tight tracks with limited or no infield breathing room between the lanes.
Something to consider for everyone, not directed at you, but in general...
the "inside" spots are the toughest to marshal, with cars zipping by on 3 sides in 3 different directions. It's normal for one marshal to help out when another gets distracted or just doesn't see something that happens behind them. That spot you ran to was also right in front of that far corner marshal location, and the crash would have happend right in front of them.
The way Battlefront is built right against the back wall adds a heightened level of potential danger as the normal safe zone for the marshal to travel to and fro off the track is not present, and they're forced onto the track as they have to move around. Add the limited visibility from the dust cloud and it being the last race of the night when everyone's tired and the odds are not in our favor.
I've seen so many close calls with these races, and in many cases it boils down to just plain luck someone doesn't get hurt.
Myself, I would highly recomend no short pants, no tennis shoes (I see one track got proactive and said no sandals), and in the case of 1/8 scale - I've thought for years now that hockey helmets would be a darn good idea...
One guy I know wears saefty glasses, while he gets teased about it, I think its a very wise thing to do.
I know that track has very limited real estate, but pushed against the wall like that magnifys all the other issues that need to be respected when it comes to safety and racing 1/8 scale cars.
(Typos corrected)

Sorry, my bad, it was the second qually, and he NEVER came close to lapping me, I was in second behind Mike Champ, No matter where he was doesnt give him the right to PLOW through me, HAVE SOME RESPECT!!! Obviously this kid has had issues with alot of peeps on here, so settle down. I drive with respect, I lift instead of peeling somebody, learn it!!! I also marshal 110% like i would like others to, I showed that at BFG, I got called 'super marshal', we all need to chill, Have respect when driving, and marshal to your absolute best ability.
I would still like to find out who peeled me, and broke me, while I was leading the A main stk truck at Jones? Anybody? That incedent alone cost me first place for the overall points, I lost 9 points at jones, I lost 1st place by 8, I am still uptight about that.

It'll all work out fine, the court of public opinion weighs heavily...
I'm still trying to salvage the vids from Jones. We shot them on Chris Peterson's HD cam and ran into format problems. Maybe one of these days...

Isnt Possible that you are not as nice of a driver as you think. I can personally recall the 8th scale a main at Jones when a particular driver was acused of jumping the pipe when they got a head of you. They Also STAYED ahead of you for the entire race.
Leonard 09-17-2009, 11:46 AM in case you havent noticed i drive balls to the wall every lap and rarely crash my shit just thermals. check the points i only finished 2 races in four wheel and still finished third last washtenaw i won every race but one to chris p.
dude its stock truck WHO CARES
Your right I didn't notice. I rarely pay attention to those who don't finish a race. I will however from now on pay more particular attention to the DNF's. And I'm pretty sure the people running stock truck are running it because they want to so they might care.

02fire 09-17-2009, 03:21 PM Isnt Possible that you are not as nice of a driver as you think. I can personally recall the 8th scale a main at Jones when a particular driver was acused of jumping the pipe when they got a head of you. They Also STAYED ahead of you for the entire race.
I do recall that and was watching that race i didn't see any pipe jumping
Leonard 09-17-2009, 04:36 PM no apple head only runs stock cuz he cant beat anyone in mod and stock is just as big of a trophy as mod so he can go home and feel good about himself even though he lost anyway
yea check the lap times and "would be wins" ive got plenty of em. u have no idea how frustrating it is to thermal 3 minutes into four wheel while u have a decent lead and pulling away only because the customer service people at LRP are a bunch of assholes and lose your speedo for three weeks so u have to run a mamba and then make you buy a new one because it was "water damaged" moral of the story DONT fry a LRP
I would add one thing to that. Frying any speedo is a pain ! I have had some go also. I had 2 cheaper brushed LRP speedos go bad on me and wouldn't allow myself to buy their expensive brushless one.
Stateline R/C 09-17-2009, 04:49 PM Crash, I saw you get hit out of the corner of my eye and noticed you had traveled a long way.
(Typos corrected)I think part of the problem is your trying to run an 1/8th scale cars on 10th scale tracks. Thats about like racing a Formula 1 car on a go cart track. Looks like you hit the nail on the head!
