View Full Version : Morl 2009
LOSI_Duck 08-29-2009, 10:00 PM John, I was wondering (and I am sure others are also) if you are going to be grilling food on the 12th or having a vendor like we had at the Roar race last year? There are a few dozen restaurants in the area to choose from for foods orders. Any chance of working out a pizza deal with any of the pizza places for food deliveries and deals like other tracks have done in the past races?
A list of local hotels near the track also please for those that will have to travel.
Thank you in advance, Tonia
beefgravy 08-30-2009, 11:06 AM Duck and others, I have a contact at the grand mark hotel right near the track, I am going there on monday to set up the deal again so i will post it here with the price as soon as I talk to him. It is a nice hotel and has free internet.
Beef
Tdevil 08-30-2009, 11:20 AM I was going to post that Beef and I had talked. Thanks for checking into things.
We will break out the grill for the MORL race. Don't forget we also have microwaveable sandwiches, pizzas and corn dogs as well as snacks, chips, candy bars, soda, Gatorade, waters and teas stocked on a regular basis. Nobody should have to go anywhere if they don't want to.
Frankie V's still has their coupons that we have used at a couple of the larger events that we hosted. They are always up for delivering a large order to the track.
LOSI_Duck 08-30-2009, 08:20 PM When is the Banquet?
Aaron Howe 08-30-2009, 10:11 PM When is the Banquet?
I know in an earlier post you guys said you waited until near the end of the season to announce the banquet, but do you have an idea when you will announce at least a date? I could care less where it is, but some of us don't have flexible schedules or weekends off to just drop what we are doing and go to it.
Personally if I don't ask for the time off at least 3-4 weeks ahead of time, I wont be going. I'm sure others jobs are the same way.
Thanks, Aaron
crashmaster 08-30-2009, 10:19 PM most jobs don't work on the weekend lol fish should know more by the 12 and keep your pants on boy
Aaron Howe 08-30-2009, 10:43 PM most jobs don't work on the weekend lol fish should know more by the 12 and keep your pants on boy
Riiight, because we all have Monday-Friday jobs that are only 8-5 every day. I guess America shuts down after those hours.
Sorry for my mistake, it was only a question.
crashmaster 08-30-2009, 10:47 PM and yet some of us don't have jobs:(
LOSI_Duck 08-30-2009, 11:13 PM Aaron I am with you I work 12 hour shifts every other weekend and I need to request weekends off. It will be ashame if we can't get the time off to go because everything needs to be a secret. Hey crash it's not our fault we work and need advance notice. But there is no reason they can't give out a date.
LOSI_Duck 08-30-2009, 11:15 PM We make all the races because they are posted ahead of time but the one big date we all need is under lock and key until they decide to let us know.
crashmaster 08-30-2009, 11:40 PM well they need to know where its going to happen just like the mars series races and most places won't take reservations with really far in advances and as for aaron i was only joking
FishRC 08-31-2009, 09:41 AM We make all the races because they are posted ahead of time but the one big date we all need is under lock and key until they decide to let us know.
Its not under lock and key. If I had even possible dates/times I'd let you know. The date/time/place is getting worked on. Had we gone on last years attendace, we likely would have badly undersized this years needed space. We wound up tight last year, this year I'm thinking we will have even more people attend.
Stateline R/C 08-31-2009, 03:50 PM good call fish, you guys had awsome numbers this year!

How do you know who will be coming until you ask? I don't remember it being discussed at the last race like I thought I understood it would of been. So you will make a date let us know and not be sure how many will be there? The issue is not all of us have a Monday thru Friday job and if we spend the money and take the time to race we would like to go to the banquet and since we don't all have those types of hours the later you take the less chance we have to go. My job allows 1 person off per day on weekends. That is why I ask.

For the last 8 years I also worked that type of schedule (not any more), thats why we're able to come regularly this year for the first time - in the past I just couldn't get time off.
I feel for you...
one18thscalerac 09-01-2009, 10:43 PM ditto
Are any pics of of BFG track we will be running at on the 12th.
J Blaze 09-02-2009, 08:50 PM look on the bfg thread.
LOSI_Duck 09-02-2009, 10:47 PM I know I took some at the beginning of the season, for them.
Aaron Howe 09-03-2009, 12:03 AM I looked it back up, here is a video.. its not a good angle and doesn't show some of the features, but you get the idea.

sbrady#0 09-03-2009, 06:21 PM I wish the people would have moved so we couls see all the track
Aaron Howe 09-03-2009, 06:33 PM yea! I hope he seen the sense of humor in it?
I got to BFG last night, and the first thing he said to me was "your dead". I then said that i had nothing to do with it, that I only knew it happened. So he changed his tune, but jblaze... your screwed on the track. your getting punted!
lol, It was even better when I told him and flipse that you cut flipse out of the picture.
J Blaze 09-03-2009, 07:31 PM Thanks For The Help.
Tdevil 09-03-2009, 08:44 PM Hope to see some of you Saturday for the MORL warm-up race at BFG. Doors open at 9:00, racing at 11:00. 5 minute heats and mains. Track will be run dry. $12 for first class, $5 for second class. Battle Front Bucks awarded in heats of 6 or more.
FishRC 09-04-2009, 08:25 PM Ok, heres the word on the banquet. October 10 at Trippers. Doors open at 5pm and dinner is at 6pm. We have a larger room as we are expecting a bigger group this year. I will get the flyer posted this weekend. Please send in your regestration as soon as possible so we know how much food to have. Price is same as last year, $15 for the driver and then $15 for each guest. If you can, please sign up at the race at Battlefront.
LOSI_Duck 09-05-2009, 08:51 AM Don is currently working but when I talk to him I will let him know the date. We are having our last point series race in Gobles on that day. There are at least 7 guys running the Gobles series and the MORL series. Revo listed our race in a huge list of West Michigan Races and Events on the Track Discussion Forums but it was not put over here on the Events Forum so maybe you did not know that it existed. Since Don did not know when the banquet was going to be he requested the other two Saturdays in October off so I am sure they will just change the race date to accommodate for the banquet date. Since the racers were aware that this might happen and were thinking ahead of changing the date if needed.
Thank you for always being the one to inform us of what is going on in the MORL series. I know that you feel the brunt of everyone's anger since you are the one that post on here and tries to help answer questions and complaints (and we do seem to have many of both at times). I know that you must feel like the head of the B~~ch and Complaint Dept for MORL but I wanted to take this time and say THANKS for all you do Dave it is very much appreciated!!;)

+ 1 million!! I have said it quite a few times. It's great to have an official on here to communicate with us compared to years past where we have basically been flying blind through the season. Go Fish!!

I already have another activity planned that day, so I wont beable to make it. I wish I could but I was afraid that it would fall on that day. Thats the problem having multiple hobbies, you cant always do it all.
Either way, thanks for your timly response and your help over the season. And as LOSI_Duck already said, its great to have you on here to answer our questions and issues.

John, would it be any problem with getting us there thurs. night and getting a tent spot set-up??
Tdevil 09-08-2009, 05:26 PM Sorry to be late with this. Two hotels very close to the track:
GrandMark Lodging
3300 28th St. SW
616-534-7641
When we did the Region 5, Beef had set up a $35 a night rate with them. Not sure if he has been able to for this event. Mention Battle Front and ask if there is a discount.
Days Inn
3825 28th St. SW
