420 Tech R/C 06-08-2009, 10:48 PM wow , how did a couple guys telling someone that they looked good enough on the track to run with everybody else turn into this??? I thought maybe some positive encouragement was a good thing to show guys that were new to the race scene. No body is ragging on him at all , If anything it was meant to help boost the confidence of someone who HASNT been around this for 20 yrs. so they wouldnt be quite so intimidated By those of us who have. Regardless the guy had a great first outing and when he decides he wants to bump up ... good for him!
420 Tech R/C 06-08-2009, 10:49 PM Less novice talk and more "My homemade CORR truck beats your slash"!!!
well yeah!!!!:thumbsup:I really cant wait to see Jesse's rig now that he has had some tuning time with it.
carbon madness 06-08-2009, 11:07 PM Hey this is only the start of my 6th year racing/in the hobby. Although it is really like 4 years of racing as I used to only race off and on when I was in high school. So really I am still new. lol
But the slash was never made to race so of course it won't be as fast on the track as the full blown race trucks with a longer chassis. And with the JConcepts tires grip really shuoldn't be a huge issue like it would be if only slash tires were used.
HERSHEYSQUIRTS 06-09-2009, 12:16 AM What does 'No cut tires' mean in the Modified CORR class?
Loony 06-09-2009, 12:49 AM Wow... give a guy a compliment and everyone freaks out....stupid.
Loony 06-09-2009, 12:56 AM What does 'No cut tires' mean in the Modified CORR class?
You can not dremel, cut, make new grooves or modify the tread in any way.
FishRC 06-09-2009, 08:45 AM Don't they reverse the order every other race? so Modified will be running first? Fish can you answer that?
Yes, in Jones the modified classes will run first.
FishRC 06-09-2009, 08:57 AM What does 'No cut tires' mean in the Modified CORR class?
Cutting refers to modifying a tire to fit into a class the tire was not originally made for. So if you take a 1/10th truck tire and by cutting and gluing make it fit onto an SC rim, it would not be legal. As for "You cannot dremel, cut, make new grooves or modify the tread in any way" is partly true, but methods to simulate wear on a tire would be ok.

Still lost.:freak: So It's LEGAL to modify a tread pattern on the SC10 tires.
Looney if you have any SC10 braces left bring me one to Jones. Thanks man.

Loony 06-09-2009, 05:13 PM Nick,
I have both alum or stainless. Your choice same price.
Look for the banner.
Thanks
Loony
Fred B 06-09-2009, 05:26 PM It is not legal to cut tires in the SC class. It's also a ROAR rule for the class.
If you don't have Goosebumps you're going to have some issues with the SC class it's a huge difference compared to the other "realistic looking tread" tires.
HERSHEYSQUIRTS 06-09-2009, 06:13 PM WORD..... Thanks Fred and Loony

I agree, GB's worked really good when I practiced at Jones last week.
HandyRacing 06-09-2009, 10:09 PM RE Novice rules, it says:
"Novice – may not have competed in more than 3 series races in any prior season. Run what you brung. Any driver competing in novice, may only run the novice class."
I took it to mean MORL or MARS "series" races. I woudn't think other track / program activity would factor into the discussion.
It doesn't really matter to me. I'm a novice too, never raced in a MORL / MARS race until the Litchfield race, but staying in the Slash class. The only position I have is that the rules should apply to everyone equally, whatever the case may be.

In case you haven't seen them, the moving pictures are here (http://blog.handyracing.com/2009/05/17/midwest-offroad-racing-league--litchfield-race-action.aspx).
Mike Champ 06-10-2009, 11:54 PM How are the points calculated in the series? I saw that the results have been posted, but the points shortcut does not work? Is this gonna be updated before Race #2?
Thanks,
Mike
carbon madness 06-11-2009, 12:01 AM I clicked on the link and it worked just fine.
Anyways this link has the current points listing. http://www.midwestoffroad.org/litchfieldpoints2009.pdf

Try Internet Explorer Mike, Firefox has issues with the MORL site.
The top qualifier in the class gets 50, 2nd 49, 3rd 48 etc.
Then the finishing order gets points based on position. 1st 100, 2nd 99 etc.
So maximum points earned would be 150 (TQ and a win in the A).
That how it looks to me.
munsonator08 06-11-2009, 09:41 PM hope to see everyone at the track for the next race, im working on building my SC10 so it will be ready to race at Jones.
anyone know if they are practicing this weekend on sunday? and also is there power available, or will i need to acquire a generator.
FishRC 06-12-2009, 08:46 AM and also is there power available, or will i need to acquire a generator.
There is not power at the track, you would need to bring one.
carbon madness 06-12-2009, 06:54 PM Just less then a week before I will be at jones (I will be there on friday), but I can't seem to wait that long. lol

If you visit www.MidwestOffroad.org
there is a tab for "Flyers" which then has a hotlink to a PDF for the Jones race. The flyer contains a sketch map as well as street address for follow up MapQuest.
Try this link (http://midwestoffroad.org/jones2009.pdf)
Tdevil 06-14-2009, 05:55 PM Just a note, the marsracing.com website does not appear to like Firefox. If you try to access the Flyers or Points you will get the Lake Stateline page.
If you use Internet Explorer, everything comes up fine.
Aaron Howe 06-14-2009, 07:15 PM I use firefox, and it does not load any of the flyers... BUT look what i found on each of the 2009 flyer links.. and extra "\" before the PDF file name.
http://www.midwestoffroad.org/\jones2009.pdf (<--- is what firefox sees)
http://www.midwestoffroad.org/jones2009.pdf (<--- is what explorer sees)
Dont ask why, because I don't know how the code in Mozillas programs work, but i know if you simply delete the extra "\" from that URL, it will display the flyer correctly.
HandyRacing 06-14-2009, 08:26 PM Hmmmm - Good catch Aaron. Odd thing. I wonder what Google Chrome does?
I'm running IE lately. Clunky be thy name.
(but seeing the flyers)
munsonator08 06-14-2009, 11:26 PM went to the track today... nice layout, tricky sections here and there. forgot how difficult that track was due to the whole thing being off camber, rather than flat, so one direction your pulling to the right, and reversal sections your constantly pulling to the left a bit.
could use a bit of maintenance, few rutted areas, and some weeded spots, but nothing major, about a good 30 -45 minutes of track prep that track will be dialed in.
definitely going to make for some good racing, and hopefully the weather will cooperate with us this weekend. hope to see everyone racing this weekend.

Tdevil 06-18-2009, 10:13 AM We are going to be doing a Fathers Day race at BFG on Sunday and we would like to invite everyone from the MORL series to leave your stuff in the car after you finish at Jones, unpack it when you get to BFG and enjoy another day of racing. We will even grill up some dogs and provide some pops. Racing will start at 1:00. 3 heats and mains.
Fathers who bring their son or daughter will race for 1/2 price (normal $14 entry fee) and the kids race for free (doesn't matter how old the kid is!)
If you don't have any kids or they can't come with you, see me in the pits at Jones for a 1/2 off coupon good for the Fathers day race. (A thank you to those that support the series.)
Also a chance to check out the track and scout things out for the September MORL race if you haven't been to BFG before.
We will be providing some additional exclusive deals for those that participate in the series throughout the summer.
See you at Jones!!!!!
