Apl Hed 05-21-2009, 01:24 AM Yes awesome. First big win...... and I didn't have to take anyone out.
Great race Nick, lookin forward to some good competition this year.
On that note, I have a suggestion, If we run under the lights at any track, I think that track should have all orange tubes, Black tubes are very hard to see under the lights, I was way overshooting the sweeper/straight cause I couldnt see where the tube ended.
Just my 2 cents to make this thing funner, lol.
Some props to my sponsers.
Tdevil 05-21-2009, 08:16 AM Got it covered Apple. Ours at BFG are all yellow.
HERSHEYSQUIRTS 05-21-2009, 08:26 AM Are we running all Modified 1st @ Jones? Like last year?
J Blaze 05-21-2009, 09:24 AM any pics of jones.

I think Losi Duck is going this weekend. Sweet talk him into taking some pics.
Apl Hed 05-21-2009, 12:23 PM Does Jones have orange tubes all the way around the track?
HandyRacing 05-21-2009, 12:28 PM any pics of jones.

Loony:freak:
can you run the titan in the sc class?
munsonator08 05-24-2009, 06:49 PM that SC class looks pretty fun, especially after seeing the close racing at the litchfield race that the A main guys had. that was sick. constant battle for the lead start to finish, great racing in that class.
im going to see if i can put something together by the next race. i want in on some of the action.
munsonator08 05-24-2009, 06:53 PM also wondering if anyone can answer a few questions for me.
SC class - can you run aftermarket speedo and motor, servo, etc... or is it limited to a ready to run only spec?
and what limitations do you have regarding the chassis. can you modify the chassis with aftermarket hop ups?
LOSI_Duck 05-24-2009, 07:17 PM can you run the titan in the sc class?
They said yes at the last MORL

Not sure on everything you can ask Fish or Bill, but I know you can run a 17.5 brushless system

groundhogg 05-24-2009, 08:13 PM Essentially Kyle, in SC class you can run any electronics package you want. But it is a 17.5/27t stock class. And tires/rims must be purpose made for SC class.
No limitations on chassis, as long as you meet the Roar dimension rules.
For the race in Litchfield: I think Hollis had an SC10, Fred used a Slash, I had a converted T3, Chad a converted Academy truck.
HandyRacing 05-24-2009, 09:52 PM Prior to the season, when the options were debated about running both Slash Spec and SC classes, the original thoughts were that the OEM Titan motor could stay in the Slash if run in the SC class and the rules still say that...
Quote:
Slash stock - No aluminum aftermarket parts, plastic aftermarket parts are allowed to replace the bulkhead, arms and outer hubs. Radio, receiver, servo and speed control may be changed. Motors in this class are to be Traxxas Titan only. All other motors including brushless are considered the SC class under ROAR rules. Must use the stockSlash tires. 1/10th offroad truck tires are not allowed. Cut tires are not allowed.
SC Class - ROAR rules in this class. Traxxas Slash and the SC10 are legal at this point, others may be legal but none are formally announced as of now. The Titan motor will be allowed in the SC class subject to possible change.
In SC class only tires that fit on the 2.2/3.0 or stock Slash wheel are allowed. No cut tires are allowed.
End quote. http://midwestoffroad.org/rules.html
I'm told the rules were re-thought just before the start of the series and the Titan now needs to be pulled and replaced with a ROAR stock rated motor.
Can we confirm this with the Race Directors?
Tdevil 05-25-2009, 08:28 AM I was having trouble with my diff in my SC10 at Litchfield and I asked Bill Wood if I could run my Slash in the main instead of the SC10. I was told that would be fine as long as the Slash had a 27T or a 17.5. I was told I could not run the Titan in the SC class.
Based on my conversations and experience at Litchfield, the Titan is not allowed in the SC class.
LOSI_Duck 05-25-2009, 08:51 AM ...........

fred's slash wasnt really a slash, more like an extended chassis rustler that worked VERY well.It was definitely cool to see 3 of the top 4 qualifying trucks were home brewed machines!!
HandyRacing 05-25-2009, 09:56 AM Clarifying my above comment and agreeing with Tdevil...
I happened to be standing there speaking with Bill when he explained the rule mentioned above. Going from memory, I think at one point over the Winter the SC Class was being considered as an open class which would have allowed the stock Titan to remain. It appears to me the class is now going forward as sort of a Open / Stock hybrid.
Which I'm not complaining. The problem for me is I was looking forward to running my truck in both classes without having to switch things around. At the end of the day it gets confusing for me to be organized to race and also try and film the races.
But. And. Its all good. I'm just as happy running only one class and enjoying a mellower pace. I have as much fun being there watching and visting with everyone as actually racing. The "4-Door Mustang Racing Team" never fails to provide endless free entertainment, priceless times for us. It (might) cut down on entries though, which means the program has fewer trucks on the track overall.
(less revenue to cover expenses)
Tdevil 05-25-2009, 06:02 PM Basically they are sticking to the ROAR rules for the Short Course class which specifies 27T or 17.5 Brushless along with weight and dimension restrictions.

Yep. all of us who built custom rigs still adhered to all the specs roar laid out, and all of us submitted our trucks for a tech inspection the day before the race.

Kudos to you guys building your own rigs. I'm a BIG fan of innovation...

hankster 05-25-2009, 11:46 PM You can also custom make your off-road truck.....spend $100 on a brushless.....$150 on a esc....lord knows how much on tires and wheels...but you CANT run a $20 titan in the stock truck class!

Its likely the track layout is a little different this year, but I thought an intro would be helpful.
In the meantime, yes. As I recall the finish was late in the day last year but still before sundown (it even rained a little during the day).
J Blaze 05-27-2009, 07:57 AM HandyRacing your doing a great job with the vids!

If I put all the Litchfield races on a CD and had copies available at the following race, think there would be any interest?

I want one for sure.......
I'd buy one for the whole series too.
J Blaze 05-27-2009, 01:46 PM ya i would be interested in the hole series!
just make sure sombody gets us slow guys!!!!!!!!
Loony 05-27-2009, 02:25 PM Handy-
I would be interested in the whole series cd also
MC1-
Those are 12 turn motors, Guys in GR say they go sour quick but a new one would kill a stock motor. Are you upset that they don't allow modified motors in the stock class?
It would take you 5 minutes or less to change to a stock motor...
Then you can wait 3 hours for your next heat...
I want one for sure.......
I'd buy one for the whole series too.

Sounds like we have another opportunity, eh?:D
no i have a 17.5 all setup and ready to go....its just i got a deal on some titans....i have 10 of them...have ran the same one for 2mo still going strong...wanted to use thim up..ran this one at a temp of 180 still going....how long will it take to use 10?
Loony 05-27-2009, 06:05 PM wanted to use them up..ran this one at a temp of 180 still going....how long will it take to use 10?
I don't know, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a toostie pop...?
Just kidding, this is what I would do...
-I would Dyno all of them. Use the Best 5 for Each track.
and save 2 for backup and practice days.
-Sell 3 of them to other guys in the Spec class and use the money for entry fees or a sandwich. Maybe turkey with swiss.
Hey loony, how does your sc10 chassis brace attach near the servo?

How hard would it be for you to modify one and move the holes on the brace to line up with the 3 posts on the chassis that mount the upper brace/steering rack? Then just take a drill and extend the screw holes from the top all the way down out the bottom of the chassis.
Loony 05-28-2009, 02:17 PM The braces have already been made, but it's your chassis, you can drill more holes if you wish.
I am just trying to keep it simple and cost effective, then share the savings with the customers.
loony you been painting in doors again ?........thanks
Loony 05-28-2009, 06:47 PM Yeah.... Just did the bathroom
