Went to see it this past week-end. Good film, Meryl Streep played her part incredibly well, and really, all actors were excellent. We enjoyed how finely the dialog was crafted. There were elements that belied it's stage origins, and I couldn't help think that the director (who also wrote the screenplay) should have accounted for the intimacy of the large screen. Things that need to be broadcast in a stage play can be done more subtly in film.
Interestingly, as we left the theater we ran into one of our parish priests who also went to see it. When asked, he said he had to think about the film more before making judgement, pretty much how we felt.
Both my wife and I attended Catholic grade schools, and we did get a kick seeing how it was portrayed - the timeframe is 1964, same time we were students...
