View Full Version : 2008-2009 Brl Series Points Standings
BIGCHUCK 01-07-2009, 05:08 PM Sonny asked me to post the points for the Series after the first 2 rounds.
Because I have a heck of a time with formating in these threads, I've uploaded a Word file as an attachment. The points will also be available on the new BRL website (www.brushlessracingleague.com) by week's end (there's a little technical challenge there as well at the moment).
jake86 01-07-2009, 05:42 PM Are you sure these numbers are right? I know all to well how you are at adding things up.
left lane 01-07-2009, 09:26 PM chuck i dont think the 13.5 points is correct , rod has only made 1 race and i have a 1st and a 5th
Z-Main Loser 01-07-2009, 10:20 PM What is the 08-09 points system? Going by last years points, 13.5 should be, Chad with 803, William with 799, Kelly with 778, and Derek with 405, Jason with 399, and Dave and Travis with 398.
Sonny B 01-07-2009, 11:32 PM What is the 08-09 points system? .
Best 3 out of 5 this year.

bluelineracer 01-08-2009, 09:19 AM aaahhhhhh points. Can we cash these in at McDonalds? Will UNI accept these for Jayson's tuition one day? My mom used to give us 10,000 points apiece in our stockings for Christmas(Fern has that capability ya know).
Brown..if I earn any points this year you can keep them to boost your underfunded dirt program.

CBear3 01-08-2009, 10:54 AM OK, corrections:
First, Chad has 803 points because I was an idiot and accidentally added his points on Rod's line (its hard reading spreadsheets at 50%).
William is second with 797 (3 for Hobbyplex qualifying, 396 for the race, 4 for Summit Qual, 394 for the race).
Kelly 778
Derek 405
Dave 400 (2 points from Hobbyplex qual)
Jason 399
Travis 398
Todd 392
Rod 391
Other thing to note, whoever finishes third in the B gets the 1 point Hard Charger bonus even if he winds up getting the lucky dog, just like the winner of the C, D, E, etc. would.<--Wrong, the winner of the B gets the point no matter what; 3rd place is just the second loser. Thanks Sonny.
The only change from the above file is Chad's points because I need stronger glasses :)
BIGCHUCK 01-08-2009, 11:13 AM Since Chuck, the younger, usually pointed out errors in Sonny's calculations we decided he'd be responsible for calculating the points this year so we could take some of the load off Sonny with his busy schedule. So he developed a cool, intricate, automatically calculating spreadsheet and then entered the data incorrectly!
I'll update the Word file with the corrections and upload a new one today.
BIGCHUCK 01-08-2009, 12:24 PM Here is the updated Word file with the corrected 13.5 points. I think all is now correct.
Jason, I didn't screw up calculating the actual points this summer. Only in projecting the various possibilities going into the last race. Still feel bad about that, but I'm getting over it.

BIGCHUCK 02-10-2009, 03:24 PM The attached Word document shows the points totals through 3 races after the Custom Works 300. They are also pasted below. The update includes some minor adjustments to Hard Charger bonus points from previous rounds. Everything should now be correct and up to date according to my resident math and Excel guru.
Website should be updated with the Custom Works 300 results and these points standings in another couple of days as well.
See everyone at Vinton.
Mark #10 02-10-2009, 04:44 PM Hey Chuck,
Since the series is best 3 out 5 races, any way you can give us a run down based on everyones two best races to date. Obivously the 3rd race will be our best since it is Nationals and is 1.5 times the points.
I think a standings with our throw outs figured into the points instead of a cumulative standings would be better in giving us a true idea of where we stand.
Danny B 02-10-2009, 05:28 PM +1 Mark
CBear3 02-10-2009, 11:58 PM You guys are so demanding :)
As soon as I get into the office tomorrow I'll do an update like that and send it to BC.
BIGCHUCK 02-11-2009, 11:32 AM Now this should be interesting........
rickk5 02-11-2009, 12:26 PM Now this should be interesting........
yes, do tell!!!:p
BIGCHUCK 02-11-2009, 05:56 PM Here is the points update showing only the best 2 finishes for each racer.
Mark #10 02-11-2009, 06:27 PM Thanks Chuck & Chuck!!
You guys Rock!
left lane 02-11-2009, 07:03 PM Here is the points update showing only the best 2 finishes for each racer.
you got mail
CBear3 02-12-2009, 10:38 AM OK, Corey found that I was on the wrong row of the ten key when I did his (285 versus 396). Corrected to give him 790 points for his best two.
I haven't found where I screwed up Chad's yet, because BC hasn't forwarded me the email yet :)
I did however find that I flopped William and Dave Kleinschrodt's finishes at HobbyPlex resulting in William having 807 total and Dave now has 398.
BIGCHUCK 02-12-2009, 11:53 AM I'd fire the statistician but then I'd have to calculate this stuff myself...:hat:
Worst part is I can picture Sonny laughing to himself as I eat my words that we had this points thing all figured out with a killer automated spreadsheet....
At least he hasn't said "I told you so". Yet......
BIGCHUCK 03-19-2009, 02:36 PM I've attached 2 files with the points standings after Vinton. One file shows the standings using each racer's best 3 finishes of 4. The other shows the standings using the best 2 of 4 assuming a racer is going to the Finals and that he'll use the points from that race (1.5 value) as his third.
Should (cross fingers) have all the bugs worked out and be correct. Sorry it took a few days.....
See everyone in Ohio.
Mark #10 03-19-2009, 03:19 PM Thanks Big Chuck! Missed ya at Vinton!
