I blame jinx for these new models I got!
jinx alway show such great Le Mans models here, wich has made it impossible for me to stay on the vintage toycarcollectors "right path" LOL.

I guess that I will be collecting Le Mans cars in the future, but I will (try) to limit myself to IXO Le Mans winners. And maybe a F1 now and then.

In 2006 me and my (then) 18 year old son, went to Le Mans, primarely to see Tom Kristensen and the other danish drivers. Tom K. was to our big surprice this year (and the following year) NOT in the winning Audi.
The winning Audi R10 was the #8 with Pirro, Biela and Werner.

From 2002; the #1 Audi R8

The Jaguar D-type has always fasinated me, here in the 1956 version.

Another one from the "golden age of racing" The Mercedes 300SL that won in 1952.

This Minichamp model of Alonsos 2006 F1 Renault is very nice too.

LeMans collectors have to be careful with their wallets since there are SO MANY LeMans cars made. I'm not a huge LeMans fan so I don't collect them, but if I did I'm sure I'd have to limit it to just overall winners (or perhaps class winners). I'm a Monte Carlo rally collector and it's bad enough for me but LeMans is just huge.

Very nice models! Cars of this extent of detail can be very, very tempting to the wallet!

Yes, I am also new to 1/43 this year (2008) and focused on sports cars of all motorsports with a heavy slant on the American version being ALMS and sedans (DTM, CC, etc).

I have changed me collecting habits and sold cars to purchase more 1:43!!! This is a deep commitment for me! But this board alone brought me down this path.

Glad I’m on the journey even if my wallet is not!

That D type is lovely:thumbsup: I guess that old favourite Lesney D type may well have been the first Le-Mans car that Karl E owned and helped get the ball rolling 30 years later ready for these?

Jinx has a lot to answer for!
I lay a lot of the blame for my 1:43 conversion on him.
he kept at me for a few years and i finally got it.
Actually i owe him a lot of thanks:)

Makes me sound like Prof. Henry Higgins in "My Fair Lady" - it did take a while to persuade you of the error of your ways though:)
