Feel free to open some up. drewid142 01-08-2009, 06:12 PM probably a bunch of lurkers like me just check in... start talking about something... post a pic or two... and i bet things start to happen. computer guy 01-08-2009, 07:16 PM I check in here periodically. Right now I have bought a few of these; http://scenearama.woodlandscenics.com/index.cfm To try my hand. There are mountains, water, and other terrain Ideas on that site. Not too sure how it will work with my buildings, cars and trains. But as soon as I have a place to work on these things and build my little towns. All that is left is to learn how to post pictures from the camera to this site. Richard toyroy 01-09-2009, 08:54 PM I don't do layouts, so I'll leave those topics to others. When I get some of my kitbashed and scratchbuilt engines to a certain stage of completion, I'll post about them here. Robert Hargrave 01-10-2009, 12:06 PM Okay no one else has posted anything guess I'll start. For some time I have been working on a shelf type switching layout in my garage, my first attempt had to be taken down because of a couple of small mistakes that caused big problems. 1 some how in building the shelf I managed to let one end develope a slight dip so when I parked a car it sometimes would roll off on its own. 2 I set it up to operate the turnouts by push rods, then I added a stream and wiped out two of the rods and that was the last straw. This is a view of the finished West end of the old Farmersville Jct RY. http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/6152/fv36le9.jpg Here is an overhead view with the stream I nessed up (yes the water is green) http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/6844/fv34ko9.jpg So I took the layout down to the frame and started over this is the scale drawing I nade to work from for the new expaned Farmersville Jct. RY. http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/2492/farmjct2qh8.jpg This is the added staging yard with car storage. http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/2410/layout28hf1.jpg Here is the new West end of the layout with fuel company siding and highway overpass, in the distance is the lumber supply company http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/33/layout41fy0.jpg the only items that were purchased are the detail parts around the fuel company office, the telephone poles, LP gas storage tank and the overpass, everything else has been made from scratch. http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/1614/layout42br2.jpg Here is the lumber company still under construction, and this time around I installed under the table turnout switched with push button controls mounted on the face of the layout. stang_crazy 01-10-2009, 02:58 PM glad to see some life in here. I just moved into my house a few months ago, so im trying to figure out a track plan for the room i got, but still have no clue. But i have been picking up rolling stock, engines ect in the mean time. Robert i like the looks of your shelf layout. I want to build a layout that has plenty of switching, and at least 2 main lines going around the whole layout. Parts Pit Mike 02-11-2009, 08:06 PM Looks great... and yes there are lurkers here. I am hoping to get a 5 foot x 9 foot going in the basement based on a plan in the old Atlas Track Plan book. I will shoot photos as the project continues. Going to attempt DCC.
