Assuming the motor runs, you did okay. It is not the deal of the century but it is a thirty year old car.

looks like the glass is missing & passenger side post broken and missing stickers - It's in the correct case. Bob Beers has it as desirable.

The Ultra5 chassis is slotless. You might be albe to modify it and add a guide pin though. I've seen it done to slotless chassis's before.. but not sure about the specifics. Good luck.

That's a good deal on a somewhat rare old slotless design. I had a mint Ultra 5 set I bought a few years and had some fun with it before reselling it. I did a write up on in it then but can't find the article.

The biggest problem with the Ultra 5 design was that in order to pass someone you had to introduce a burst of power to cause the front wheels to move. This was controlled through a Zenor diode.

The burst of power would of course cause the car to accelerate as well. Being that nobody wants to be slower, kids would simply hold the controllers and passing button wide open all the time for max speed. This would cause the coil windings for the steering control to get very hot. So hot that the solder on the wiring would melt and then drip onto the pickup shoes causing all kinds of failure.

Finding a used Ultra 5 chassis that isn't damaged this way can be difficult. Seeing how you only paid 5 bucks for it and it comes with a pretty cool body that can be used on other AFX cars I'd say you did well.
