View Full Version : T4 or xxxt-cr frank p. 01-04-2009, 01:56 AM t4 xxxt cr or other? sbrady#0 01-04-2009, 02:05 PM I run t4s on off road but othe stuff on ovals but I think the xxxts have better rough track handling traxxas_trucks 01-05-2009, 10:30 PM I like my t4 its always been good to me nothing major happens to it knock knock on wood:eek: King Dork 01-06-2009, 07:38 PM I'm still running a "old school" XXX-T. I like it a lot. I've driven a friend's XXX-T CR and it was dialed. All of the T4 trucks I've seen at our track seem to be easier to find a good setup with and they all seem to have some freakish steering that trumps the Losi trucks. Either one is a great truck and can win in the right hands, but if I were to get a brand new one tomorrow, I'd get the T4 without hesitation. sbrady#0 01-09-2009, 09:04 PM T4 have some trouble with front ends but other wise they can be good over all truck but the losi cars and trucks run so well in rough choped up tracks HEFFAE 01-10-2009, 01:05 AM I have a CR, I can tell you that when I (by accident) have the correct set-up, it's perfect. In the wrong hands (which is the case with me) regarding a set-up, it's tuff to drive. From what I have been told by a long time Losi employee, Associated and Losi are the two vehicles that are better than the rest, you can make them horrible or terriffic on the track, knowing what and how each adjustment makes a vehicle react is only second to getting the correct tires for that days track conditions. el camino 01-12-2009, 10:41 AM My 1st car was a rtr t3 and when the mf1 came out It was just easy to drive. When the mf2 came it was just more agressive and I had to have one. My brother in law got a rtr losi ( plastic mf1 or xxx-t chassis) and I could not compete with it on a slippery track. I was pretty mad when I copied his set up and with stock motors, I could turn faster laps and more laps in 5 minutes with the rtr. After I had trashed the gears in the transmission 3 times in my mf2 and 2 times in my bk2 I sold the buggy and traded my mf2 for a rtr xxx-t. Everyone thought "what the hell are you thinking". Since then losi came out with the cr which is basically an mf1 and a revised diff with a plastic chassis and other alterations. I made my diff like the cr and have put good shocks and pieces on it and have won dozens of times on the dirt oval and off-road with it. It's funny when people ask is that a cr or a t4? The look on there face when I tell them It's a rtr losi is priceless. So after all of this, The best truck I've ever raced is a rtr losi.( not something to really brag about) The mf2 and bk2 were the worst cars I've ever had and to go backwards in the losi line and end up with a better car is just crazy. I'm sure the cr truck is a good truck except when a ball stud breaks off in those $40.00 rear hubs, and the t4 break arms and hubs when you hit stuff also. I think the cr is the most adjustable truck out there but if it is dialed on a slippery surface you only need to make small changes if any for more traction. With all of this in mind, if I sold all of my stuff today,(except the slash and t maxx) I would have a t4 and b4 with out hesitation and never look back. The over steering and minor adjustments making minor changes are second to none. I guess it depends on ability and interests but the t4 seems to be the racer's choice. just my 2 cents. racerj3 01-14-2009, 03:12 PM I have the Cr and love it. I set it up the the box stock manual settings at the start of the last race season changing only the rear springs on the 3rd week and dominated the field. I really like the quick change rear wheels and how the wheels can be used front and back. That saves a lot of money on spare tires. I will say that it does take some skill to drive it and it does not fly as nice as a T4 without some shock spring modification. In order to get the response out of the rear shocks that I am used to I had to put some heavy T-Maxx springs to really kick it up. Once I had it flying right the T4's running at our track couldn't touch it. Ran with a GTB and Novak 7.5, bowties up front and step pins in the rear on dry days and on wet days the pins moved up front and I put Proline gladiators in the rear. If you like to make slower more controlled turns that put the proline dirt works tires up front. They stabilize the front end a lot. weaves0003 01-18-2009, 09:09 PM I was out at CRCRC this past weekend at the Midwest Electric Champs and saw the new X-Factory X-60 Truck run. That thing was dialed! You need to buy a T4 and then buy the conversion kit, but it is worth it. If you can find a cheap, used T4, and buy the X-60 Conversion, you are set. The other two choices are great trucks as well. rob martin 01-19-2009, 03:56 PM I've run both and most recently associated. I ran losi pretty much my whole life and wouldnt hesitate to switch back. They are both great trucks. ScottStaypuff 01-20-2009, 09:46 PM How would an HPI E-Firestorm compare? I'm interested in the HPI truck because it has a tuneable geared diff and will hold up to my Castle 5700kv motor. I'm scared of getting another truck with a ball diff and the E-Firestorm seems to have many design cues from the Losi and Associated trucks so I'm hoping its a good racer. Also, anybody who races at Classic Hobbies in Akron Ohio, shoot me a pm if you'd like. I'd like to start racing there, indoor and outdoor. Kyosho Racer 01-23-2009, 06:20 PM I'd go with the Losi xxxt-cr. It is made to handle brushless. A great truck but the t4 is also a fine truck. I know nothing about the HPI truck. Jeff ScottStaypuff 01-24-2009, 09:11 PM I'd go with the Losi xxxt-cr. It is made to handle brushless. A great truck but the t4 is also a fine truck. I know nothing about the HPI truck. Jeff Thanks Jeff, its looking like I'll be going with the T4. Anyhow, I should be at Classic tomorrow @11am. See you up there.
