I have an 1/8 scale nitro buggy. I'm debating converting it to brushless / lipo. If I do, I plan on running the Novak HV Pro brushless system with the 6.5 turn motor w/5mm rotor shaft. These are my questions (please only respond if you actually run something similar): Question #1, What voltage are you running (11.1 or 14.8 volts)? Question #2, What battery capacity are you running? Question #3, What kind of runtimes are you getting? Thanks in advance for any helpful responses:thumbsup:.

I am running the Novak HV ESC (older version) with two batts connected. Voltage is 14.8 (7.4 x 2), capacity 2 Orion 4800 batts (when using both connectors on ESC the capacity remains 4800), never ran more than 15 minutes steady. Running dirt oval so the races are shorter.

Eric I found a 1/8 electric part of the forum look under "rc offroad racing" were it says "1/8 electric off road" and there is a lot of guys who deal with the 1/8 electric stuff:woohoo: If you didn't know already:wave::thumbsup:

Question #3, What kind of runtimes are you getting? Thanks in advance for any helpful responses:thumbsup:.
Running two 2S SMC 5000's in series for 14.8V, I did a test where I ran it exactly 10 minutes and the pack drained the most used up 3100 mAHr. I would guess 16 minutes would be possible, but our races were only 10 minutes long, so I never ran it more than one race worth.

Be careful about LiPo cutoffs. If you run two separate LiPo packs on the two separate HV-Maxx input connectors, you need to use a 2S smart stop on the control input. Otherwise, if you run it down to the limit of the 4S internal cutoff, one pack will be excessively discharged and could be damaged.

Here's a pic of my setup before I started using the LiPos:

Thanks for the reply. Our track runs 15 minute mains, so I'd want to be able to get at least 20 or even 25 minutes to play it safe. 8000mah might be the way to go, but I'm leaning toward nitro now. I actually enjoy engine tuning and the other tinkering involved with a nitro. I have a couple months before I have to get set up so who knows?

i would recomend either the new castle creations 1515/1y setup. Or the castle creations mamba monster with a real NEU 1515/1y if ya got the money!
I am running a Neu 1515/1y with the vcastle speed-o in my converted nitro revo with buggy diffs and 2x neu 2s 5000mah lipo packs for 14.8v and could easily get 15min. if yer worried about run time maxamps makes 8000mah but there not as good a cell compared to any other company. If ya have any questions please feel free to pm me as i have done so much research and have people to connect you with! Thanks, Trever
