I've posted pics of the silver 917 before. I just got the white Pilen and orange Joal 917 off of eBay. All 3 were made in Spain.

Superb models, with all the opening details they are streets ahead of modern 1/43 collectables!

What "modern 1/43" 917 models are you comparing them to? I don't see many "opening details" on these and I imagine that a 917 by Minichamps or IXO or Spark or any other modern manufacturer would be far superior to these in detail.

These 3 open, but I would have to agree that modern models are probably more detailed. Do any moderrn 917 1:43 models have opening engine compartments? I've considered buying a few, but have not noticed this feature. Also, has AutoArt released the 917 in 1:43 yet?

I agree with SMS88 - these are great toys/models  for the times they were produced in:

I didn't say they weren't nice models. They are. It's just that I could only see one opening feature on each 917 and therefore did not understand his comment.

3 cars, 3 opening hood features:wave:
I collect vintage Italian & Spanish 1/43 because I like the opening features.I dont have many modern collectables aside from partworks which cost under $5 each and some Vanguards

Don't see many Vanguards in the States. IIRC most of the ones I remember seeing were always curbside models.

Vanguards are mostly English cars of the 1960s and 1970s, half of which were not sold new in Northern America so perhaps thats why the Corgi feels that there is no demand for these items outside europe.
I collect only casting/colour combinations that I like, there are no opening feautures on Vanguards although some castings feature open driverīs windows and all feature well sprung suspension, the feature which makes it a joy to run them around my desk ,inspired perhaps by TV chase scenes I remember from my childhood.

Other brands ignore suspension today but these 2 from Joal/Pilen have suspension and multiple opening parts
