I am looking for a benchtop vertical metal-cutting bandsaw. I am familiar with the Proxxon (saw the review on The Hobbyist's Machine Shop), and am considering purchasing it. However, before I invest any money, I would like to know if anyone is aware of any other vertical benchtop saws on the market. With limited research I have only been able to locate a couple of saws other than the Proxxon. One of my uses for this saw would be to rough cut knife blanks. Is the Proxxon powerful enough for this task? Is anyone aware of a more powerful, heavy duty vertical benchtop saw? I already own a horizontal metal-cutting saw, and cannot use small enough blades to scroll some of the tight curves I need to cut. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have an old Delta 14" Bandsaw that I'm currently restoring.. The manual said it can do Metal and Wood. But it can only do metal with the addition of a reduction gearbox thing to make it slow down under 200-FPS.

The one thing I really like about it is the size... not too small.. but not a TANK either...

There is a two videos of me cleaning it up and re-wiring the thing.. It was FREE but missing a few minor parts.. like the Motor and Electrical.. no biggie!

look under youtube for "berkelusa" thats me..

Just found this place and glad to be here!
