i have a question for my motors in my 1/43 scale cars, i noticed all the motors have di-ods soldered to the can of the motors(i hope i'm spelling that right), is there a reason for this? can i remove them without hurting anything, i didn't know if they are there for a reason or not, i'm getting ready to go thru my motors and replacing the wires to from the motor to the contact where the brushes go. also is there any good wire i can use other than the wire that comes with the cars? can i get any at radio shack? what type? please let me know, thanks, shon

I am assuming you are referring to resistors. These limit the current going to the motor. I am sure the manufacturer put them on there for a reason. Without them, the cars will probably go too fast, and possible motor burnout will occur.

What is the car's brand? Cars sold in Europe sometimes have extra componets added to prevent electrical interference with television.

Noise suppressors...usually a capacitor.

Pics are to blurry to see what they actually are, try taking one off an running it, If the TV goes fuzzy you know why now :P. An bill is correct its capacitors that reduce electrical noise

Hey Shon!

The guys are right - they are capacitors for surpressing electrical noise that could cause interference in other electronics like TV's, radio's, your computer monitor, etc. As suggested, try removing them and see if anything is affected - if it is, replace them as they were originally setup. Since you are dealing with DC power on your track and cars it can be "dirty electric" versus the "cleaned up" AC that powers everything in your house. Depending on the age of your electronics in the house, some stuff may not be affected at all.

Hope these suggestions help!
