Bill - THANK YOU
(We love getting more challenges!!)
BallisticBill 12-22-2008, 01:58 PM Should be fun and exciting Joe.
swtour 12-22-2008, 02:01 PM Here I posted a LINK and MESSAGE to this challenge on OUR Message Board as well..
WINDTUNNEL "Velo Body" Challenge - on the SWT "Oval Talk" Message Board (http://southwesttour.com/ovaltalk/viewtopic.php?id=1&t_id=411)
BallisticBill 12-22-2008, 02:54 PM I have had some e-mails on the difference between the WT2249H and WT2249 velo bodies.
The "H" stands for heavy. The WT2249H "XHS" Velo body is made of .040 Lexan. The WT2249 "XHS" Velo is made of .030 Lexan therefore is lighter weight but perhaps not as strong as the "H" . They are produced from the exact same mold.
WT2249H "XHS" Velo http://www.windtunnelracingproducts.com/product_info.php?cPath=42_27_28&products_id=41
WT2249 "XHS" Velo http://www.windtunnelracingproducts.com/product_info.php?cPath=42_27_28&products_id=40
Hope that helps.

RCMits 12-23-2008, 06:27 PM That a boy MITS! You got your FIRST run in...now you'll be RUNNIN for the Front ROW!
YOU'RE CAR has the speed to Get r Done! (Buck's the MASTER at making VELO Cars fast down there.)
It is Bucks base that I worked on..., but now its all "Mits" and his special ninja-love sauce that makes me fast. *snicker* HAHAHAHA.....
I got bit by the velo bug... and only on the finals did I feel I got the car good to go... so.. we'll see.
swtour 12-24-2008, 01:01 PM just make sure you don't paint a NINJA body color...it's hard enough sometimes to see these little cars flying around at 50+ MPH! lol
SHAKY DAVE 12-26-2008, 01:01 PM i'm in.the car is ready right now
Keith Brown 12-26-2008, 07:29 PM I'll get mine ready for Feb. I'll have to send off for the stickers though. Looking forward to Getting Back to the Big House. There's nuthin' like The Velo!!! K....
PUF19 12-28-2008, 05:03 PM so what are the rules for Velo car wise?
How far is it from Las Vegas, not getting my fix here in vegas ;0)
RCMits 12-28-2008, 06:24 PM about 300 miles from Vegas I think :-) Encino Velodrome...
all the rules car wise are here:
http://www.southwesttour.com/about.htm
Here are the basics:
Weight - 38 oz. w/ personal transponder (or w/o a handout transponder)
Body Height : VELODROME, Velodrome is 4.5000")
Bodies - STOCK CAR (Nascar type)
Wings - side dams must not exceed 2.00" x 3.750" and wings must NOT be wider than the rear axle of the car.
Spoilers - may NOT have side dams, 0.7500" max w/ WING, 2.000" w/o wing.
swtour 12-28-2008, 07:00 PM power plants for 2009 will be NOVAK 21.5 and NOVAK 17.5 motors, along with Orion 3400 Lipo batteries. (last years 3200s may also still be run)
Generally we have 3 classes.
21.5/STOCK CAR
17.5/STOCK CAR
17.5/NASTRUCK
Rear tracking width is measured from the edge of the tires (not the wheels)
Body height minimum's are 4.5000" on the cars, and 4.750" on the trucks.
Most cars use, but it's not required to use the independant front suspension w/shocks.
If you run a Associated style Pan Car front end you will want long king pins, soft to medium springs with HEAVY king pin lube.
Tires are generally BSR Silver or ORANGE EHW capped tires, so do use the T/M EHW Type tires too.
There are various chassis's being used, 10L3's made a great velo car, but some guys choose to have a special chassis built too.
PUF19 12-28-2008, 07:46 PM who makes independant front suspension w/shocks?
swtour 12-28-2008, 09:47 PM Randy Smith ( bigboytoysrandy@yahoo.com ) may be able to set you up I'm not sure.
Most of us use the old Team Associated DUAL SPORT front arms and bulk heads with a special shock mount (made by either Randy or from Donn Natale (team associated)) and the shocks used vary..from Micro VCS type shocks to HPI Center Shock...and/or the HPI/Hotbodies new shocks.

Arnold ALMOST broke the previous Track Record in his run...but (GRUMBLE GRUMBLE) TQ, WIN and a NEW Track Record went to Joe Blackburn...running the old HARD TO GET MADE HS MC from another source...
Bill Murdock - THANK YOU for putting up the challenge!! It did make for a NICE BUZZ at the track -- there were guys gunning HARD for it...and it gave a few guys a chance to run it, that I believe had never tried it before....and we like HYPE and EXCITEMENT...

I know you guys gave it your best. We will do this again sometime. It makes the race a little more exciting when there are prizes at stake to shoot for.
Joe, I will keep in touch. Thanks for including Windtunnel Racing in your season openner. Hope you guys will continue to look to Windtunnel for your R/C racing needs.
