I have a Novak setup in my T4. I ran 2 packs through it and on the 3rd it had no power and overheated instantly. I checked the temp after the first two runs and it was 135. Any suggestions?

Was the motor NEW or USED?

How's the gearing and/or the Gear MESH?

Tight Mesh will cause heat pretty quick.

With the motor removed (cold) how does the shaft spin by hand? (Does it spin freely, or feel like it's got a rubber band wrapped around it dragging it down?)

How are the solder joints and connections at the motor (non bridged or poor?)

Just a few of the things I look at when having an issue...

Gearing and mesh is fine. We checked it cold and had the pinion gear off. It does feel like something is wrong inside as it does not spin free.

Bad bearing or Rotor has come loose from the shaft and is slipping.

Best places to start.

Charlie (NOVAK) told me a while back...that if it feels like rubber or gum in the motor when you try to spin the rotor, a fault in the WINDING is the probable cause. (I have 3 that are like this...and do what you describe that I need to send in, I just keep replacing them w/ USED motors from here on HT)

My first thoughts were bearings, I replaced them in two motors w/ Ceramic, but no change. (I pulled the new bearings right back out, and put them in other motors), I had also changed the rotors...(swapped w/ another motor)

The guy I bought the car from is going to send into Novak and have the fix it. He keeps all his stuff in top condition and wants to make it right. Trying to get everything together to start racing in Nipomo. I've been out of it for awhile and I am amazed how much the equipment has changed.
