We been having alot of problems at our track with the bulkheads breaking, To the point where guys are considering not racing anymore. Some have come up with braces and such to help aid the problem. I was wondering if anyone else has been having any problems with them? (one of our guys went through 4 of them this weekend and i seen 2 of the break on very minor accidents.)

this has not been a problem where i race i've only seen one break and he was a newbie. buds does make a brace for the front end that should stiffen it.

That brace is more for mini-t that do not have the front bumper and the whole front bulkhead will break off at two screws in an impact. The late-model has the front bumper uses the four front suspension block screws. In a hit, that area of the front bulkhead is hollow with only columns for screws and the columns are what break off in impact.

I was going to try filling the empty space with epoxy to tie the columns together. There is an aluminum one made but now the car is not box
stock.

When I learn to drive this will not be a ploblem any more.

We have about 25 racing each week at our local carpet track. I don't think I have seen anyone break a bulkhead all season.

SONNY, have you any info how to make stock motors survive???????????

Sorry I do not.

I was sent some test motors this past week. A few of the guys ran them yesterday and so far so good. The guys are going to try to put some laps on this week and see how they hold up. Speed is the same as the stock version.

We have been having a blast with them at Allen's this winter.

we've had a blast with them as well. the cars are great no problems with breakage except for an occasional diff blowing. we've gone to a 14 tooth pinion to try and save the motor and that has helped. i'm building a mod up right now and can't wait to get it on the track. i put a novak mongoose in it with a 13.5. should be a riot to drive.

Me and my friend are on our 6th bulkhead. We are new to r/c and love the latemodel but are sick of the bulkhead and motor issues. I know thetoyz.com has the alum. bulkhead. The epoxy idea is brilliant! What are some good brushes for the stock motor, does anyone have some suggestions? Help desperately needed, all the best. Pat

Sat night sold 6 bulkheads. Several were talking of filling them with JB Weld or other epoxy. In the cars defense, we didn't see a lot of breakage until the guys went to foam tires. Now it is an issue. The BRP brace #514 is made for the slider and late model and bolts on without modification, it helps, but not enough.

I have an easy fix that takes about 3 min. Just Drill 2 holes on the outside of the losi logo from the top, remove foam and top bracket, cut bumper with scissers, then glue the outside peaces to the foam (they just act as washers) then put it back together with 2 extra screws and nuts and it will last forever. Dont worry about support, this mod allows the bumper to do its job with plenty of support and just enough flex to save bulkheads. I did this to my old late model and the guy is still driving it today with no probs. I have also done it to my new one and havn't changed it with a number of solid crashes. http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/8074/img1154.jpg

Pro Advantage 1 you are the smartest man I know. Wonder why nobody else figured that out. Hobby shops are not going to like you taking away sales like that. Now no more broken bulkheads.

I have been filling the inside with jb weld and going to the next size up screws and making sure they are LONG enough.

put front bumper on with double stick tape an leave screws loose this will
take some pressure off on impact

does the added weight from epoxy change driving characteristics??

Any of you Mich drivers we have a Mini Late class at Battlefront Gaming every sat. Check it out!!
