What vehicle does he drive? Does he race or bash? What radio does he currently own (that uses the Spektrum Pro module)? I'm gonna guess you're considering the DX3.0 which comes with 2 receivers. You can get lots of answers on this subject, but if you give us some more info, people can give you a more educated answer. I've owned most of the Spektrum radios and will give you my opinion after you post back:thumbsup:.

Definately the dx3s. Its the newest version stacked with features and the same price as older model. Comes with 2 recievers(one with telemetry) also. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=SPM3130
although you can probably save a few bucks on that

The main difference is the regular system has a 5.6ms response time, the Pro has 3.0ms. The vast majority of people will never feel the difference of 2.6 milliseconds.

Also, the "Pro" receivers are supposedly coated with an anti-static spray that also protects the receiver from nitro fuel and what not. I checked Amain and they are only listing the Pro module and receiver combos. I haven't heard any real complaints regarding any of the Spektrum module / receiver combos.
