all my cars when i got them i noticed the brushes have the gold deal in the middle of the brushes but on both ends is where the brushes make contact to the track, i was thinking about cutting off the lower part of the brushes would this hurt anything? it tends to pop the car off track sometimes with it doubled up like that, i know when i ran 1/24 scale winged slots years ago the way there brushes are i wanted to do the same, would this be okay? and or is it a good ideah to silver solder them? i also had an ideah for the guide pins they are in one postion, would it hurt to make them swiver a little to where there is a little give? please let me know thanks, shon:thumbsup:

Actually Shon, just like in 1/24 and 1/32, it is a good practice to trim the braids and then make them "fat" or wider - more spread out. If you remember right, you wanted that guide to lay as flat as if there were no braids and then you wanted that braid to spread and give you good contact over the entire rail. Soldering them is fine, but I'd do it up where the braids make contact with the brass rails going back to the motors.

As for the guide pins, what do you mean you want to make them swiver? You mean get them to have more turning radius? If you can, that would be great, provided they remain in contact with the brass contacts above the braid - I think I had looked at that on mine and that was one of the concerns is over extending and then completely out of contact with the rail. Of course, I've also thought about yanking the rails leading to the motor and just direct wiring and soldering from the braid to the motor too. You should be fine, just mind the braids staying in contact with the rail connections and you'll be fine.

Awesome! Thought it was swivel - hahaha! Glad I was able to help ya out. I run HO, 1/43, and 1/32, so I'm kind of all over the place with slot cars right now. I've had to significantly reduce my stock.....hopefully cash flow will get going again and I can get some HO's and 1/43's!

Have fun!

I'm not sure about the fuse as I have no experience with the battery powered ones, but I have heard of several people change those over to wall warts. If I had to guess, I'd say it is no larger than 1.5A, maybe 1A considering that most of these cars do not draw that much amperage.

its a wall wart with an adaptor to fit onto the battery powered track.i have not been able to get it working, which sucks because it makes for a nice layout.especially for kids,as the cars aren,t too fast.
