Looking for feedback on purposed Track about 1 hour 20 east of Pittsburgh.

Please let me know, we are looking at investing in this track for 1/10 scale oval. It is a larger oval and could be a good fit for 1/4 scale. We are looking at offroad also so it is not going to be a oval only track.

500+ Center line 35-40 ft wide 8-12 degrees of banking.

Let me know, Email me at sbrown@two2cool.com.

We have a french drain in the middle. The track is concrete. We are looking at many option to where we would put the dirt track.

I would keep the dirt track far away from the concrete track(s). (wind)

Are those storage buildings? Is the outside wall steel?

The track looks huge!

Team T2C

Yes they are use to store now. But that was a garage for Karts. Yes that is a steel outside wall. But remember we are adding walls. So that will not be there. I wish the other walls were not cut off. it would have been nice to have something to attach too. but as you can see in one of the pictures, they cut them off level with the concrete.

Team T2C

There will be pit lane on both straights. Test tune pit road will be on the Back Straight (next to the Building) it is 37ft wide on the straights so we have plenty of room for a pit road. It will also eliminate the congestion on the Front straight during practice.

Remember, pit road is a dangerous spot. If you have one on the back straight for practice, there needs to be some sort of a divider for racers to stand behind for protection. A curb or something along that line. Even at slow speeds, a 30lb car can do damage.

Unless you have two driverstands, I would not waste much time on a back straight pitroad. IMO, keeping the entire 37ft wide back straight would be more beneficial.

Just a thought.

I agree. without a stand over there it wouldn't get that much use to justify the cost or the loss of avalible track. even if a stand was there i wouldn't use it because im going to drive from the side we are going to normally race on. and if im going to walk all the way over might as well drag my car with me. if you don't have enough room for cars in pit road then too many car
are probably on the track anyhow. most will see how many are on the track and wait if too many are out. The entire width would be better.

ok, point taken. I figure that you have another person with you working on the car. that was the point for the back straight pit road. Ok Guys I am going to hold you too using the entire width of the track. Already had a few 1/10 scale cars run and I could have made the track 4 ft wide off the inside line and they would have never hit the wall. They hugged the inside line so much we could have a party on the straights while the race was going on.

Ok, So here is an Update.

Measured the Track

Inside Line 349.6 ft directly on the inside line.
Racing line (proposed) 449.9 (only going up halfway on the straights)
Outside Line 538 ft

We are set and we will be testing with a few select people on the next good day that we get. And the track is smaller then expected which we figure is a good thing. I gues my speedo is off in my truck,

Looking at 1/4 scales lap timing. We are wonder do you have personal transponders or do you use the tracks? please Advise. We are planning on running 1/4 scale at this track this year and want to make sure we get the right system and componets. Wish we could have worked with our closer 1/4 scale track and had a series. But that was not welcomed.

Personal Transponders(P/T) all the way! Our club has spent mucho funds on AMB transponders over the years. Moving to P/T only has been th best move we could make. We have purchased the P/T's in bulk on three or four occassions so that our racers will have them on hand. We have even allowed out of town racers to rent the P/T's but prefer they buy them outright. :thumbsup:Looking at 1/4 scales lap timing. What Tim said.

Sad though that you have a track close enough for a series and they do not welcome it. I guess they have all the racers they will ever need.

Tim Mc

Concentrate on competitive local racing. Promote by email, phone, fyler, exhibition, or whatever. You have to grow your own attendance first, then reach out for a series or greater.

Plus, the racers decide on the series, not the tracks. If they want it... it will happen.

Keep digging!

A series would had been great for the area. Thats the kind of stuff that makes everyone love racing. Race with different people at different tracks. I love it. nice track, what is the banking on that. I was looking at the asphalt and It looks so smooth in the corners I wondered if it was concrete painted black.

It is asphaut with sealer on it. We sealed the track at the end of the season in 2007.
The banking is around 4 degrees. Its a tuff track.

Ok, Just want to give an update:

The snow is Gone and hopefully will not get that Deep again! Yesterday we started cleaning the track off and it is looking good. The next weekend day we get the opportunity to practice I will hope get some people that are close to come out and give us some feedback. No driverstand will be on the location as of yet, But that is exactly why I am inviting some people who have flexible schedules and if the weather is permitting to come and lay down some laps. It will help us get feedback on proposed wall designs and improvements we can make to the track. If you are somewhat local to zip code 15501 shoot me an email @ sbrown@two2cool.com

Jeff, did you find any difference with traction and heat in tires etc., after sealing the track? i remember in 1/10 sealing was never a good thing.
they say they didn't have as much traction after sealing. we are driving
different animals then them and not same rubber either, but just
curious if you noticed any difference, bad or good after sealing it. if you ran on it before sealing it. im sure you did. i remember freddies track being built.
we were doing laps and the asphalt hardly cool yet from being put down.
LOL of course no walls up or nothing . drove ontop of the tracks of his
bulldozer to get a little higher to drive some laps.
im pretty sure freddie never sealed the track. just wondering if it would change any if he did later. or any track for that matter. would it give
a different feel to any given tire? sorry for the long wind.

Looking for some ideas on ways to repair/clean off scale(old sealer) from ashpalt track. Here in Iowa the track is subject to all adverse conditions. We had the track repaired/sealed about 3-4 years ago. On the back straight we had/have a large dip thats runs the full width of the track cut and repaired the he didn't do a very good job. The current condition is very poor, the dip has reappeared, sealer with a sand type mixture(grit) is also flaking badly. Our club members would like to take a stab at cleaning/repairing the preping track and looking for some ideas.

Post pictures of issue and you may get a better answer. It's hard to tell what really needs to happen without seeing the track. Answers could simple or real expensive, depending on the amount of damage and what was done before...
