I had a new hard drive put in my laptop and now I am missing a driver for my dvd's to work
This error shows up
Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer

What can I do to get it to work I really don't want to have to buy a program right now

there are freeware DVD programs you can use.

Go to the PC manufacturer's web site. Most of them have all of the drivers that were originally on the computer.

he needs a decoder, and usually pc's are preloaded with a dvd player softare like Cyberlink, Roxio or some othere dvd software. It usually isn't free if you try and download it.. and is usually preinstalled or a cd is given for that software (most dells, gateways, hp's that i work with are this way).

yes, try the mfg website and see..

but the easiest thing is.. vlcplayer ;-)

i think divx can play dvd's too...
