I am wanting to switch over to lipo and have a few questions.
What is the best balancer to get for the packs?
What are the best lipo packs out?
Needing these in a hard case and to fit roar specs.

if you have no rules for mah the smc and thunderpower are probably the fastest thing going. most say there is little need to balance these very often so find someone with a balancer to give them a charge once in a while

Best balancer? Equinox or Checkpoint
Best packs? Probably SMC

Best? They're all pretty darn good. For batteries, I run Peak Racing and Checkpoint, both hardcase w/ 2mm center balancing terminal. Ice charger with a Trakpower V-Balance balancer. Peak 4800 has seen 2 full seasons and still performs great.

I have an Orion 4800 that I have raced over 1 1/2 year and have yet to balance it. It is in perfect balance using a good meter. It is still faster than my SMC 5000 that I got 2 months ago. I use a Checkpoint charger with an Equinox balancer.

I ran my Peak 4800 (same battery as the Orion) for 1& 1/2 seasons before I balanced it. Couldn't tell any performance difference. What most people don't realize is that Lipos only need balancing once in a blue moon. It doesn't hurt to do it more, but it's not neccessary. Keep it simple, and you'll have less headaches. My newer Checkpoint 5400 is a really nice battery too and I'd like to pick up one of the new Reedy 5000mah 35c packs. Looks good, and I prefer the ones with the 4mm plugs for the leads and the 2mm balance port.

Little bro Kyle, Reedy has a very solid reputation. The new battery looks quite improved over the old (discharge rate, 4mm & 2mm plugs). The price is a little below anything comparable. Even without actually owning one (yet), I'd feel quite confident in reccommending this battery. Looking forward to Slashing it up with us this summer? It'll be a blast man:thumbsup:!
