I bought one of those ebay runners lots and it included a Lemon Aurora tJet AMX. Does anyone know if AW or JL made a clone of this car? The stripe was lightly painted and the wells have been cut but since all I have are original Tjets (and no other AMX's), I struggle to ID clones. If it is a solid molded color is is pretty safe it's Aurora? Are there a few simple tests to determine this?

This seems like it might be a clone.

aw & JL cars were never molded in color.
You have an Aurora AMX. (found on P45 of Bob Beers book) It is rated as a 3 in rarity.
Lime is a 2, blue is a 3, orange is a 2, white is a 4.(The lower the number, the greater the rarity.)

Joez is right as far as the reference. Too bad the wheels have been enlarged and hopefully you have the chrome front and rear. :thumbsup: rr

I've got the chrome and the wheels are nicely done, I've got Bob's book and have had a yellow AMX in the past but this one just feels a little different so I thought I'd check here.

Since the wells have been nicely hogged out, you could throw on one of those triple color paint jobs ala Mark Donahue Racing. Add some bigger wheels and maybe lower the bod slightly for one heck of a race car. :) rr

I hate to be the bearer of possibly bad news.....but..... HO-Models did a AMX.
I happen to have the very same lemon yellow one. Mine has decals for stripes. I'm not saying the one you have is a HO-Models..but there is a chance. I will try to get a pic up of the one I have.

COOL......I was hoping I wasn't the bearer of bad new.

i have one of these too, yellow and black like that, but there's no chrome and the wheelwells on it make yours look relatively untouched... :freak:
