View Full Version : What brand is this?
bobwoodly 12-15-2008, 02:38 PM It's a vette with integrated painted bumpers. Thought it might be a Tyco S but the body is translucent, not candy over black like the other Tyco S's I have. I have an Eldon that has chrome bumpers so that's not it. Looks like it is paint over a translucent body. Anyone who can help ID this?
Thanks!
Tom
videojimmy 12-15-2008, 03:35 PM that looks like Tyco S to me
GoodwrenchIntim 12-15-2008, 03:46 PM yes a tyco S
bobwoodly 12-15-2008, 03:47 PM VJ - have you seen Tyco S's with non-black bodies? If so I think you are right. What's weird is the rear post is too short for a Tyco S chassis, even though the post is cracked it's smooth on top like it has not been shortened. Also it's more of an Aurora Tjet scale rather than the slightly larger Tyco S

T-Jet Racer 12-15-2008, 04:09 PM american line had a car like that but i dont remember all that detail so i say tyco s car body
noddaz 12-15-2008, 04:17 PM I don't think that the American line bodies had detail that nice...
They were kind of sloppy....
joez870 12-15-2008, 05:08 PM I have had several American line bodies. They were all molded in color.
I bet Bill Hall will have a clue. He knows everything. :)
videojimmy 12-15-2008, 06:22 PM I have a candy red Tyco S that looks the same... but without holding it in my hand, it would be tough to tell for sure
Bill Hall 12-15-2008, 06:36 PM Good detail. I'd have to say Tyco S also.
GoodwrenchIntim 12-15-2008, 07:30 PM that for sure is a tyco S I have one same color an just looked at it an the 2 fronts are spot on

bobwoodly 12-15-2008, 08:43 PM Thanks for the help. It's just weird the rear screw post is so short yet the top of the screw post still has some shiny blue paint on the top. It has no glass and zero glue residue and the color is so different from my candy blue Cheetah, but it looks exactly like the one GoodwrenchIntim pictured. The front screw post is good and if I place the Tyco S chassis against it the front wheels bind against the body.
Thanks again for the help. - Tom
joez870 12-15-2008, 09:38 PM Tyco S had different wheel bases for the "S" chassis I think.
thunderjetgene 12-19-2008, 01:15 AM Tom - I have the same one - it's molded that color.

ParkRNDL 12-20-2008, 09:57 AM Tyco S had different wheel bases for the "S" chassis I think.
bingo. i heard this too. unlike aurora that had one chassis with two sets of holes, they had several different chassis lengths...

bobwoodly 12-20-2008, 02:46 PM The length is fine a perfect fit for a Tyco S but the tires bind at the top for the wheel wells, despite the fact the tops of the screw posts look to be original. All of the Tyco S's I've had have the large wheels/tires - did some come with small wheels/tires? If so that is probably my issue. Thanks everyone!
Tom
GoodwrenchIntim 12-20-2008, 05:33 PM mine has tjet sized tires
