when it gets down to it are spec tires comparable to any tires.one track says you have run spec the other it doesnt matter.whats the difference?

It is more of a mental game , I'm sure there are guys out there that could run spec tires and win at a big race(they probably don't because their tire sponser don't want to see spec tires in the winner's circle LOL) , The only thing with spec is there are only 4-5 choices in compounds, and non spec tires you have 15-20 choices, So with that being said the spec guys tire box should be alot lighter and less money invested. And the other thing is if everyone in said class runs spec tire it takes the tire issue out. just my 2 cents (keep the cost down and keep the guys racing)

cost control is what we are after,one track most guys up front are runnin whatever.my home track is gonna make spec tires it and thats all there is.my rdilemma is not having to buy a bunch of tires.the real reason for me asking was is can one compete against any given tire providing you have the right compound?
