I wanted to get a thread going for CEFX here on hobbytalk. CEFX is owned and operated by professional driver Josh Cyrul and he has been working on some great oval and road course cars.

He does have a new site in the works, but you can check out the old one at www.cefx.net

If you have questions or comments post them here.

Burbs,

I'll get you some pics in the next few days. I got a lot of stuff going on with finals and work, but I'll make sure I get some up here soon.

I think conversion kits start at about $175, but I'll get some firm numbers for you as well.

Have one one of the NimH cars; it is ballistic and turns in when you just start to think about the corner. I ran it in 10.5 since i need all the help I can get in that class. One weekend at Hensley's I spent a day and a half working on putting my primary 13.5 car in the top 3 and then decided to throw a 13.5 in the CEFX and picked up another second with no changes.
Really looking forward to what changes Josh did for the Lipo car.

Have you ran the lithium car yet. I just assembled mine and will be running it Tomorrow night but it will be in 4 cell 13.5. I've been running the Phoenix 10 oval car for a year now.

Pretty wild, lots of interesting things going on there...Although the one thing I can't figure out is the purpose of the screwed in braces in the middle of the tray.

looks like maybe an option for a lipo saddle pack, or for single cell lipo. Car looks good! Nice work Josh!

to locate and hold a nimh saddle pack sideways

adamliehr
12-11-2008, 02:41 PM
Yep, the braces are for nimh packs.

The new lipo car is dialed. I ran it for the first time this past weekend at classic and was right on pace with what I had been running the first time out. I'll post pics of the lipo car later this evening or tomorrow if I get time.

The best way to get ahold of one of these rides is to send Josh an e-mail through the web site. Shoot him and e-mail.

If that doesn't work, let me know. I know Josh has enough stuff to get quite a few kits together. Just trying to find the time.

I had a great run last night. This was the first night out for my Lithium 10. I ran on a 150' carpet track with a 4 cell 13.5. I picked up a lap over my phoenix 10. Here is my setup in case anyone wants it. Car was stable and turned in great. Someone needs to make us an excel setup sheet.

Tires BSR
Lf pearl Rf Grey
Lr pearl RR white

Springs
LF prog white RF blue
LR 12# RR 12#
Center shock assoc gold

Long wheel base and both front locators as wide as the front end can get.

Charger Body with Pedona wing
Hope this works for others.
Let me know what others are running

Good job Mike.

I have a very similar setup on my car running 17.5 lipo. It seems like it is a good starting point, but I definitely think that there is a little bit more left in the car that we can get out of it. Going out today to do some more testing. I'll let you know if I find anything.

Soon we are going to start testing for 10.5 lipo.

hey adam: When did you start using cefx cars last i knew you were with ksg what's up? Thanks

adamliehr
12-14-2008, 02:01 AM
Today was my second week on the CEFX car. The Thursday prior to last (4th I think) was the day that I resigned from running KSG cars. The McClellans and KSG are great people and I wish them the best of luck, I wouldn't be where I am today if it wouldn't have been from their support for 5+ years.

_____________________________________________
On another note, the car worked really well today. I did a lot of testing with tires and messed with the wheel base a little bit. Overall I was very happy with the consistency and durability (thanks Keith, lol) of the CEFX car. Josh and I still have a lot of ideas that we want to test with the car. With another week on the car, and as long as the track has the bite it did today, I should have a good med/high bite starting setup.

So far I have liked:
Protoform THD
3 Pink or 2x pink and 1 Purple BSR Tires
Long/wide wheel base.
Red and Green front springs
Gold/Blue w/ 35 side oil
Silva Silver w/ 55 center

This has been pretty good setup so far for a low/med bite somewhat bumpy track.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Adam, have you gotten any prices on the kits? and what's on them (or what green parts come with them)?

adamliehr
12-14-2008, 03:30 PM
I'll have that information available tomorrow. Josh is in Canada and I don't want to give false information without talking to him. I believe the conversion kit is $175 with everything other than front end, servo mounts and rear axle assembly. However I believe he has these parts available for full kits.

Please be patient as we get everything going, great things are coming!

in Canada eh? wonder where? it's a hop skip and a jump for me without having to cross a border LOL

adamliehr
12-16-2008, 04:59 PM
Yea Canada, they had part of their Grandslam On Road series at Fascats.

Okay, just checked with Josh on the pricing. Everything other than the front end, shocks, rear axle, servo mounts, and hubs are available for the car for $175! So here is what you do get:

Chassis
Graphite and foam bumper
front end locaters
center shock mount
Cross brace
Nerf Wing
T plate
Top and bottom plates (He has 0*, 1/4*, and 1/2* rear steer plates available)
Green motor plates
Screws

$175 is pretty right on with the other conversion kits available right now, plus you get some of the aluminum.

FYI when I made my post with previous chassis setups I forgot to add that I was running 1/4* rear steer.

Any other questions feel free to ask. I am very glad to see a lot of interest in CEFX cars, my pm and e-mail boxes have been flooded.

JDW,

The new car still uses the short CEFX t-plate, but Josh made a slight design/material change to make them more durable.

Yep, I had heard he got rid of the inner two holes and just stuck with the outer two. That'd be nice since the only way I found to keep the old ones together for any amount of time was to use all four screw holes...but then again it was me behind the wheel.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks to Adam and everyone for the updates and info on here. It's also nice to see the interest in the car. At the moment, I am working on the design for the enduro car for the Thunder 600. Hopefully, I'll have my 17.5, Mod and Enduro cars built in the next few days and I'll be out to do some oval testing. I have my on-road program pretty well together going into the Birds so this year I am actually spending some time preparing for the oval side.

I'll also work on some proper set-up sheets for everyone to use to share set-ups.

Thanks!!

B-man777 - It's not really a merger but TOP Racing will be introducing their own cars later in 2009 (hopefully mid-late summer). All the TOP cars are designed by myself and will be 100% our own kits (no more OEM from other mfg's). This will greatly increase the amount of support and ease as far as ordering kits and products without the delays that have been with CEFX. Additionally, there's no limits - A lot of the time, I've had to try and restrict designs or ideas simply because we don't have the money to create molds or do a lot of the trick things that I've always wanted do do. With TOP, they are investing in the molds and anything I want to design to be sure we have the best product out there. CEFX will still be around but as a "design house" and maybe in other ways in the future.

We will support our CEFX products for at least 1-2 years after TOP makes a kit - So say that TOP makes a 1/10 oval car in August of 2009. We will discontinue the Lithium kit at that time but still offer parts support for at least 1-2 years (depending on interest and people running it). We are still pushing hard with our CEFX kits (1/12 and 1/10) as we really want to improve and learn as much as possible with out product, especially so a lot of it can be applied to the coming projects with TOP.

For those that don't know yet, Adam did an awesome job yesterday and broke the track record @ Akron with a 61 4:02 run!! This weekend, I'll be joining him at Akron to do some testing and running for the Birds. Hopefully, I'll have all the cars (10.5, 17.5 and the Enduro Car) ready to run!!

We do have conversion kits as well as other spare parts available now. Also, if people are interested in running the enduro's at the Birds, I could cut some extras of these cars for anyone interested in racing in the Outlaw 600.

Pork - I'm not 100%. I'll know better after I build my cars today/tommorow.

Frank - Sorry I missed you at the Halloween Classic. We didn't finish up until midnight and my phone never worked in the basement there. If you are out running, I'll see you at Akron in a few days!!
