View Full Version : "The Boneyard"
cscustoms 12-10-2008, 06:54 PM You asked and you shall recieve. Here are updated pics of my scrapyard that I build over 10 years ago. This scrapyard is what got my into the hobby of customizing these little cars. Most of the cars on the far end were entries of a custom contest I had last year called "The Boneyard Custom Contest". In the new year, part 2 is coming. Anyways, anyone that entered got a casting from me to customize to make it look like a scrap car. Once done they had to all send them back to be displayed in the scrapyard and in the end, there was 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners with great prizes for the best, most detailed custom. It was fun and the creativity in these scrap cars turned out to be mind blowing. The best part is that I have tricked a lot of people thinking that this is a real scrapyard pic til they really took a closer look.
So here it is:

I really like the Mercury wagon with the doors hacked out of it and
the worn out looking heavy equipment.
The "ground" is very realistic as well. GREAT job, thanks for the show!!!!!!!!!!!!

sschevyman1 12-28-2008, 12:25 AM That is an outstanding junk yard. Thanks for showing!!!
cscustoms 12-28-2008, 06:50 PM Thanks for all the compliments. My plans when I have time is to redo this whole diorama. Make it a bit bigger and more detailed. The reason, that years ago, all I had was a piece of glass and yes, this dio is built on glass which isn't good when you try to move it around etc. So I'm going to put it on a stronger base that is a bit bigger, so I can add more cars and even a building in the front cause where do you buyt the parts at? That shed is way to small LOL.
hwsascha 12-29-2008, 11:00 AM hope we will see a how to when you get started again
cscustoms 12-30-2008, 06:56 PM hope we will see a how to when you get started again
I'll do my best, I know dipstick will want detailed W.I.P. pics for his website.
sschevyman1 12-30-2008, 10:53 PM Can you share what you did to the Chevelle to make it look like it wrapped around a pole?? Thanks!!!
ltfalcon 12-30-2008, 11:34 PM CSCustoms,
The Dio is fantastic, the rubble, parts, and wrecks look great!!!
When you rebuild are you planning a salvage shop that will sell work in progress cars with different color doors, dog houses and such? I always want to build a salvage yard like that that had a few diamond in the rough cars out front for sell.
Great work!!!!
