ok we had our first kids race for the citro club. the race was held at the local hobby shop. ( j-tec racing and fun in Tilton IL )
all of the kids had a blast and said that they cant wait to race again.
i feel we as a older generation need to make sure that slotcar racing is still a viable solution to fun. because if we don't our little hobby will slip into obscurity. kids love video games we all know it and thats never going to change. racing slots is real not just virtual and thats what i believe amps up the fun factor. the more kids i can get to enjoy slots and to realize this the better we are all off for the future!

here are the results

the 1st race is in the books! thnxz to everyone who helped make it happen.

KIDS RACE RESULTS

i believe all the kids had a blast. maybe next time someone will beat the home teams track champion! Trevor you did a great job! Donnie you are gonna have to let Dillon try to beat Trevor.

Awesome! Great to see kids racing. I know more kids would like slot cars if they tried them, there is so much to the hobby, collecting, tuning, customizing, racing! Maybe AFX should do some more tv ads.
Hopefully kids will get burnt out on video games and get up and do something real.

It's cool to see those happy campers running slot cars. Having the race on You Tube let's them feel like stars too. THat was a great idea and it looks like it worked out very well. Thanks for sharing.

I am a HUGE advocate of kids being involved in slot car racing and in this hobby! I love to hear stories like this as they just encourage us all that the next generation is getting exposed to the fun this hobby has! You are to be commended and huge kudos to you for setting this up and reaching out to these kids!

Good luck on the next race and keep us posted on the growth as well as the close racing.....looking forward to someone beating Trevor if he is the track champion.....just means that either Trevor will get better or someone else will be trying to beat that kiddo!

thnxz for the nice words guys! i will keep you posted when the racing starts. i am talking to guys at the hobby shop about doing a points series after the new year. we will give out trophys for the single races and for the team races. then have a pizza party at the end of the series. plus the hobby shop has a arcade so we will give all the kids some quarters. it should be interesting. as for trevor his dad owns the hobby shop he is 6 i believe and can drive the wheels off of everything. they also have a dirt oval / dirt track and carpet R.C. tracks were trevor dominates the kids and grownups alike.

MAN! Can you only imagine what Trevor will be like when he is a teenager or even older if he keeps this up? We had a boy like that locally when I ran R/C that dominated the adults in monster truck R/C - drove the wheels off of those trucks! The most awesome thing was that he has a slight handicap and still would beat guys with full limb use! Fantastic kid and family!

trevor is the one wearing the camouflage in the middle. my boy is the one wearing a cubs sweatshirt. he does everything just like dear ol dad, if you notice he has saw the old man hold the controller a time or two. you see how he has the left hand on the of the controller like a savvy veteran and none of the others kids do. man that was a good time i cant wait to do it again.
