i am a newbie to this awesome rc hobby. i have a t-maxx classic with 2.5 engine. it was given to me. i've watched alot of youtube videos and read quite a bit about these cars. i actually replaced the bulkhead, lower and upper control arms both sides in the front, and even rebuilt all for shocks in front on my own. i got it started and i have it tuned in pretty good i think. it's running about 278 degrees{i have a duratrax temp gun} not getting any power to pull any wheelies, but when i mash the throttle it don't hesitate or fall on it's face. runs really good and shifts to 2nd gear no problems. has original t-maxx tires on it.

would a tuned pipe help on the bottom end??? i was also wondering what the purpose of the foam inserts that you can put into the tires. whats the main purpose of that? just looking for a little help...... i have had so much fun with this truck!!! i can see this is going to be a fun and expensive hobby!!! lol

Most tuned pipes are for more top end and hurt low end power. The tires are too soft to hold up the weight of the truck, without the inserts the tires would be flat.

Think of the foam as air in you everday car's tires. Does the same, keeps the tire up.

It also helps absorb bumps too. Drive an old kyosho madforce with no foams in the tires. Its like driving on balloons.

what they said, and I would think that 278* temp is a bit high. Your motor won't last as long as it should running that hot.

I always liked to run my nitros at around 230 - 250.
