inspired by his cool customs ive taken this new release HW an doing a direct drive conversion. I will be using the HW rear wheels, they have been coated with silicone an waiting for them to dry to finish this conversion

Kevin,

That is one Bad Mudder....what she beats her kids or what? lol seriously this is a great build you have going on here.

VJ comes up with some very nice conversions. Nice to see more of the same coming from others like you now.

Catchy isn't it this thing they call slot cars

Like the Mudder. I also love how you coated the wheels with silicone so you can keep the original wheel set but add some traction.

This truck looks great!

I played around with coating hard plastic wheels a while back using rubber cement. The results we okay (lil lumpy but good for low speed) but not great. THIS looks like the way to go!

Great job on the conversion!

WOW... that is one super cool custom! I love the stance that mudder has.
Don't you love the direct drive approach? It opens up so many cool possibilities.
Nice pick up system design too.

You've raised the bar on this one!

The only prob I have found with the direct drive an a heavy body HW is heat, the motor gets hot fast lugging all that weight around.
The pickup system I had to JB weld the tyco shoes so the braids had something to stop against or they would have been free floating, I drilled 2 holes in the front bumper to route the wire though the body as to hide them. I still have to tweak the tyco shoes a little to keep the braids in constant contact with the rails, but she runs preaty good for a heavy HW body

Joe I use versachem flowable silicone, can get it at most auto parts stores, Its used for sealing windshield rubber, the trick is put put the rims on a spare axel an put a light coat on the tires, then put the axel in a dremmel, hold the tires INSIDE a paper/plastic disposable cut an turn the dremmel on to fling the excess silicone. You have to do this a few times to build up the silicone. If you look in the custom threads where I did santas new sleigh, I posted an artical that describes how to coat foams an I use this approach for my HW's tires
