good advice. but it likely won't help. nascar is in this economy basically dead. with cars from rcca and action in tuesday morning and ollies setting around with quantities in the 100's at 7.99 to 9.99 a piece, and not selling. i saw rcr pit practice cars, production of 1008 in tuesday mornings. been there over 2 weeks. will likely be on sale after christmas 50 percent off that. made by rcca. if they only made 1008 as the box says, why do they have 10 of them?

that's what they are selling. action, rcca cars. i'm a member of rcca. haven't made a purchase since 2002 and darn glad. these cars at ollies and tuesday mornings are the same cars i used to buy from the club in the 1990's, saw sold on qvc and in hobby shops. glad i stopped when i did. same nice box with sleve. the whole works.
69Stang 12-17-2008, 07:39 AM WOW, I truly am sorry for the low interest over on the bay. 21 items currently listed and only 4 with bids. And starting at .99 cents (no reserve) and $8 bucks shipping, there is nothing else you can offer. Your giving the things away now! I hope the traffic and bids pick up for you.

actually, i'm selling them advertised as toys, or throwing them out. i'v given away all i going to. i've made up about 2/3rds my loss thru selling things i had no use for but found in stores. yes, scalped them. but, had to make some of the loss back. and i still do that if i get a chance.
i'll buy a super hunt, but for sale, or old sports cards, pre 1970, which i keep.. otherwise, everything i have is for sale. and i collect nothing else. ever. it's all going either sold, or in the trash. it is tax deductable if donated. but you have to be itemizing. and i don't.
bstrong 12-30-2008, 04:42 PM wow really?! So they just totally dumped all the same collector quality cars at ollies and big lots?! Thats is messed up. Are the companies just trying to cash in a ruin the whole collecting aspect of it? Did owners switch, i mean what happened that they would do that?
Maybe the company went public and had to turn more profit?
Seems like the same thing that happened with baseball cards in the 90s.

bstrong 12-30-2008, 04:44 PM hey thanks, yeah some of them sold for way more and all of them did end up selling but some of them i only made like 5-10$ on after shipping and fees. Very few did i actually make a "good profit" on like 20$ or 30$.

ollies had the action star wars car with sleve for 5.99. and i personally tossed the penzoil steve park car i had. no one in the world wanted it. it was to heavy for kids to play with, and no nascar fan wanted it. kids don't play with toys anymore. it's all video games. i quit cause i'm old, and no need to keep collecting stuff since i have no family to leave it to. i do pick up a tres. hunt now and again. that's it now.
i don't watch nascar now, and never will again. the sport is changed to like professional wrestling which is also a joke.
only thing i'll really go after is old baseball cards. and i told them i want to be buried with them. since i've no one to leave them to.and i don't want them sold.
bstrong 01-17-2009, 06:36 PM what has changed about nascar now that you think it is like pro wrestling? I couldn't tell if there was any change at all, they all still drive and try to win just wondering what you think has changed.
i have the penzoil car selling for 1$ on ebay right now. haha

the chase took 33 drivers out of the races years ago. drivers seemed to win at their "home tracks" quite often in the later years. and that stupid car they came out with in 2006 ended it for me and many others. i haven't watched for 2 years and will never be back.
racing was dangerous and exciting. every weekend a football player blows out a knee or is carted off on a stretcher. it's a sport. nascar is no longer a sport. it a joke. a bunch of prissy premadonas afraid to race like the good ole days. they might break a nail on their finger. unlike a real sport where you may get hurt or die. how many kids drop dead each year on the football field? here it's lacrosse. it's real. kids get hurt bad. it's a sport. play to win. no 3000 pound car to protect you. a helment and a couple knee and elbow pads. don't have a sport where 33 or it's participants are not allowed to interfere with the other 10 for fear of messing up "the plan" like professional wrestling. it's all scripted now. it started with the chase. and watching nascar in 2006 was as funny as professional wrestling was. i never watched it unless i wanted a good laugh. and i haven't watched wrestling in probably 10 years at least. and will never watch nascar again either. ask mudslinger on here. he used to be a nascar photographer. he'll quickly tell you what a joke racing is. it's not a sport anymore.
this has been debated on here many times. all with this conclusion i've written, to the majority on this racing thread. nascar blew it. i heard on sports talk radio, chris myers show talk show, he stated: nascar may not field 43 cars for all races this year, to many teams can't afford to race. sponsors see the loss in interest. empty seats, less t.v. viewers. it's going broke. i hope nascar collapses completely. serve them right for screwing the base of people that built them.

Electronic addiction is the new craze. But I never did buy any of the PS3/s or Wii's when other bought it. I played with my diecast. It was frowned upon by some, but it's personal preference.
NascarCollector 01-27-2009, 06:08 AM hey kwiknext time you plan on throwing 1/24th HO/TO models is the trash....let me know cause i may just pay the shipping to get 'em
sorry, if it comes to packing and shipping something for nothing, or having the enjoyment of tossing a car you or anyone won't pay for, in the trash, i have a dumpster 10 feet away to toss garbage in, and if no one will buy it, then it's just that, garbage...., i'll take tossing it in the trash, just as i did nascar. i'm putting no time into that garbage.
end of story.
NascarCollector 01-29-2009, 01:48 AM yeah thanks for helping out a fellow collector....it's attitudes like yours that I'm glad you are no longer a fan

Having been a dealer, still a collector first, back a number of years ago when Nascar diecast collectibles began to saturate the market, and it became hard to sell inventory even at cost and eventually ground to almost a halt, I never once consider tossing any of them, nor did I lose interest in my own collection simply because I enjoyed collecting them-the challenge-the fellowship & friendships made and with the idea in mind from the very start of my collecting that each piece I purchased was worth the price paid, whether it went up in value or down wasn't the question, as they weren't bought as an investment...it's a HOBBY. I had quite a bit of inventory and since the Hot Rod Supernational were held here in Boardman each year, I bagged up 5 large black trash bags full and had one of my friends ride with me Cruising up and down Rt.224 in my IROC Nascar Avenger and he passed out hands full of em to all the kids who lined the streets watching the Cars cruising. It cleaned out a chunk of my inventory, it also may have inspired some young collectors, but most of all it felt good...but then again I could have just tossed em in the trash and been a sour old man.

Ya know, I've only been on this board for an hour, but that's a pretty crappy attitude. The guy said he'd pay for shipping, so I don't see how anyone involved in the transaction loses. That guy gets cars that you would otherwise throw away (which indicates that have exactly zero value where you're concerned), and you get to feel good about helping someone else out with their collection. Take it from me, it's not worth the time taking it personally because you can't sell your cars for a) a profit or even b) what you paid for them.
radams801 02-05-2009, 09:57 AM If this is indeed true, then why are there 55 cars entered to qualify for the Daytona 500?? Enquiring minds want to know??
