I just purchased this big#%$^$ kit and I am really impressed with the size. My question iis in reference to the top deck where maybe the crew would walk on. Did this portion get painted with a treadsafe type of paint to make walking safer? Thanks in advance for any info.:woohoo::woohoo:

I believe it's the same as the hull color. At least, I've never seen a picture that would lead me to believe otherwise.

I'm pretty sure that's right. But I think people may be obsessing just a little TOO much about reproducing the paint job on the original miniature. If you look at the hi-def transfers done on the color DVDs it's very very clear that these models were NEVER designed to hold up to the scrutiny that the new DVDs allow--you're getting a clear view of botched paint lines, screws, toggle switches and other details that you could never make out on the 16mm rerun syndication broadcasts that most of us grew up on.
I think people could do a lot of subtle paint effects to bring added scale and realism to the Seaview model without losing the overall look of the original miniatures--it's an unusual chance to actually make the model kit look a bit more realistic than the larger studio miniatures do in some shots.
Now before Dave Merriman yells at me, I have some great excuses for why I haven't been able to get much work on my Seaview or much of anything else of late, but I've started to make a little progress and I'm hoping to get back into it full bore by January...

Oh, by all means. It's your kit. Customize to your heart's content! That's one of the best parts of this end of the hobby--rivet counters need not apply! :hat:

In fact, I intend to very subtly weather mine to make it more realistic. It may be a fantasy ship but it still operates in a real world environment. I don't think it should be brand spankin' new. Maybe not filthy, but not pristine either.
