Hey!

I was wondering if anyone knows the difference between a factory-built store display Alfred E. Neuman Aurora kit versus the same kit with a really good paint job. Are there any distinguishing marks or characteristics that the factory built-up has?

Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I am interested in acquiring the 1965 Aurora New Products catalog. It has the Alfred E. Neuman kit on the front cover.

Again, any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Tim

Hi Tim, and welcome to the boards mate.:)
It might be a good idea to post this in the Modeling Forum as you're bound to get more attention there. It's a good question you've asked, and I for one would like to hear the other guys learned opinions.
From what I've read and heard, the factory built kits were airbrushed using rubber masks for demarcation. I think most of the display kits were also attached to cardboard bases, though this could vary depending on the type of kit.
I'm sure you'll recieve the right info here- there are guys here with incredible Aurora knowledge.

Yeah I agree with Chris, this should be moved to the Modeling Forum, but don't sweat it... I'm off topic at the best of times, so it matters not where I post :p One thing I heard about Aurora Store Displays is that they left a lot of the kit unpainted and let the color of the kit show ...almost as a selling feature...I believe I've seen photos of Aurora Store Display kits that back up this theory :)

Hi!

Thanks for the information. I have heard bits and pieces of information that support your theory, so I am inclined to travel along that train of thinking.

I will post this same question to the Modeling forum.

Thank you again for your help.
