Couple this system with one of the ORION 2400 Lipo packs, and your ON THE TRACK for like $185.00
J-Dub Racing 11-26-2008, 01:34 PM Or with the more popular SMC and your there for like $250, or the single cell around the corner and you are there for about $210. I can only see this package being good for everyone!!!
BoneSpec 11-27-2008, 01:05 AM more info here on the specs

MiniT18 11-27-2008, 04:18 PM nice speed control with all the adjustability of a gtb... little big, but in a pan car you can probably remove the heatsink in favor of a piece of aluminum or something else. I've been running the speed control in my mod buggy for a few weeks and love it.
tweakedt3 11-29-2008, 01:48 PM Motor and speedo fo a buck and a half?
NovakTwo 11-29-2008, 06:01 PM Tower has uploaded the Havoc Spec series listings for $149.99.
OvalTrucker 11-29-2008, 10:41 PM Does the Havoc/21.5 come with the SSPRo 21.5? The pics I've found on Tower's site look different than the SSPro.

Yeah, I seen that. But on tower's website they have pictures of some sort of spec motor.
BoneSpec 11-30-2008, 01:10 AM I will get getting this as soon as my local hobby shop can get the Havoc 21.5 from Novak.
I purchased an Orion Lipo 2400 mah tonight, hopefully this combo will be our next step in spec class racing.
A VERY exp. racer at our track seem to like the Havoc ESC and his LRP should be about even, I think the Havoc ESC will be a little slower. We shall see.
Also he was running at BRL weight, 41 oz., I think we can run at our spec class weight of 38 oz. without much issue, if not lighter.
Two batterys, one ESC/motor combo = $250 retail, then charger and if required Lipo Sack.
Then again we had a 4200 pack pop a cell last night, racer tossed it just in time......about 5 minutes later it almost caught the drivers stand one fire, but no safety requirements for nimh cells, hrm.
swtour 11-30-2008, 03:40 AM The Original Havoc package was I believe a 8.5 motor, but with lots of spec classes popping up Novak has been awesome in putting the 10.5, 13.5, 17.5 and 21.5 ProSS motors in the new combo. (When we had tested the 21.5 and 17.5, we suggested they only build a SS version of those two motors...since they were being built for primarily US at that time, and we had no clue if they would be popular with OTHER groups)
I'm glad to see them received so well,in so many different markets.
BoneSpec 11-30-2008, 04:00 AM John of BSR Tires asked for a 25.5 motor which would have been equal to our local spec class, but the 21.5 combo MIGHT be to hot ticket.
Just don't want to big of gap between our 6.0 breakout Legend and planned 21.5 Lipo class.
swtour 11-30-2008, 04:16 AM We tested TWO 25.5 motors last year, but the concensus from NOVAK then was that it was a difficult motor to build with as much wire as was required, plus they labor time required to get the wire laid in, so we went with the 21.5 motor for OUR needs at that time.
The problem we had then was the lack of big enough pinions and small enough spurs to get any speed.
I believe the gear I ran for a straight line speed test w/ the 25.5 motor was a 78/55, which with the LIPO pack ran on the Radar gun 18 - 19 mph with TALL CAPPED Tires. (I tried to get the biggest rollout possible that was available at that time)
Now that we have much smaller spurs, and even bigger pinions....I've wanted to dig them out of the dusty box and test them again...but if they won't be built, it would be a waste of time (besides, with the push for SINGLE CELL...they'd probably never hit the market)
98Ron 11-30-2008, 10:08 AM Joe, I just received my single lipo yesterday, will be tring it out in 2 weeks on a flat oval with a 13.5, could be fun. It will be at least 6 months before we can get a class running down here. Could be great for 12th scale, the local 12th scale oval guys just changed over to 13.5 form 19t
a couple weeks ago. Will be sometime before we should expect them to step over to lipo.
BTW, I was at the Minnreg race\ yesterday and heard your where linked in.
hobbyten 11-30-2008, 10:37 AM Yeah, I seen that. But on tower's website they have pictures of some sort of spec motor.scott you were looking at the sport version not the spec version. they don't have a picture of that one yet.
OvalTrucker 11-30-2008, 11:03 AM Thanks Al. See ya Saturday. If it's not snowing.
swtour 11-30-2008, 01:27 PM Ron,
I try to watch you guys as much as possible~ I'm a r/c oval junkie - can't ever get enough...
I don't think TOWER has pics of this combo yet, because NOVAK puts things on Shop-A-Tron if they don't know if the item will be popular enough to distribute through the channels. I believe you will see this combo distributed as Soon as packaging is finished for retail sales. (Shopatron I believe doesn't even normally get the fancy packaging)
NovakTwo 11-30-2008, 01:59 PM Does the Havoc/21.5 come with the SSPRo 21.5? The pics I've found on Tower's site look different than the SSPro.
The motors that come with the new Havoc/Spec systems are our ROAR-approved spec motors with the distinguishing, colored timing rings. It often takes time to get Tower to post the appropriate pictures with the listings.
Our Shopatron items are exactly the same packaging as the ones that we ship to distributors. Most SAT orders are actually shipped by our network of dealer full-fillers all over the country. We only ship currently available items from the factory if no dealer has them in stock. Most of the items shipped by Novak are discontinued or re-manufactured products.

What about buying a charger for the lipo ? or even a balancer that I hear about all the time?

MiniT18 11-30-2008, 09:22 PM Either way you slice it you have to have a charger and balancer(tray). I think what he was getting at was for 185, you get an awesome no maintenance system that will last you for a couple years. But to add what you said, about the charger/balancer.
A guy at the track i race uses this and likes it, and has no problems.
